Honestly, I’m wondering where all the SNKRX fans are. I figured they’d be jumping all over this by now and singing it’s praises. I’m still experimenting with the different builds and trying to figure out what each mid-run upgrade does, since there doesn’t appear to be a description anywhere. The dev replied to my positive comment on Twitter and was very open to feedback. I’m going to direct them (Softwool) to this thread. Hopefully they check in. The fact that I went on to develop a deep and abiding love for that game gives me high hopes for this. Just my personal pet peeve those ”small amount+” descriptions. elcrazy Well-Known Member Sep 19, 2017 707 562 93 #8 elcrazy, May 13, 2023 The mid run upgrades do tell you what they do. Hold down on them to read a description. You can also scroll the page. It’s much larger skill tree than it looks. I am still experimenting as well. I still haven’t beaten it yet. Would love to get some gems and unlock some starting talents. And I agree!! Where are all the SNKRX fans??? elcrazy Well-Known Member Sep 19, 2017 707 562 93 #9 elcrazy, May 13, 2023 Agreed on the auto chess. That threw me off as well. No idea why that is in the description. There is literally zero chess in this game lol. I was trying to see if the SNKRX dev was just a member of this team, but yeah, just the same artstyle, and same inspiration of auto-chess + other genre. anthony78 Well-Known Member Nov 13, 2015 3,128 704 113 #15 anthony78, May 13, 2023 Every definition I’ve seen of auto chess involved chess-like rules and are played on a chess board grid. Neither of these games have that so I have no idea why they use that classification but whatever…. I actively dislike true auto-chess games I’ve tried but like SNKRX because it’s not like those games. MetaGonzo Well-Known Member May 7, 2009 1,459 271 83 #16 MetaGonzo, May 13, 2023 Once you get a handle on what’s what and you need to spend less time reading the text it’s actually perfectly playable in portrait. Up to NG+3 now. It gets pretty busy on wave 40+ to the point where it’s fairly hard to see what you’re actually doing. It’s more a case of slapping down the turrets where they look like they might be needed and hoping there’s a blank space under the wall of projectiles covering your base layout, meaningful strategy going out the window. Maybe it’s early days, maybe that’s just me! A couple of annoyances. When you chose a turret to place and the selection is “locked” to that type but you haven’t confirmed the position the payment is taken. If you change your mind and press the trash can, the payment is returned and the selection “unlocked” again. All very well; however if the end of a wave comes along whilst you’re in that limbo state, the upgrade screen pops up and the payment is lost with no turret. At higher waves that can happen sooner than you think. I built up 7 trait gems before I went to use them. As I was tapping the traits to see a description I was actually buying them. My bad for not paying more attention but it’s hardly how you would expect it to work. Sometimes the wave upgrade screen will trap you there after your selection is made with the done button not returning you to the action. So far some random tapping has eventually moved me on. There’s still a lot to explore; I haven’t really touched on the shooter side of things (a trait is available to allow you to upgrade both sides rather than one being locked when you make an early upgrade decision). However; my gut tells me that whilst I quite like it, I’m never going to love it. elcrazy Well-Known Member Sep 19, 2017 707 562 93 #17 elcrazy, May 13, 2023 Last edited: May 13, 2023 How are you beating this?
