Closest thing I can think of is Cozy Quest in terms of gameplay. Without the online aspect but with more depth in the gameplay itself. You are presented with static screens, and given options such as wander around, descend to lower level, open a chest if you stumble on one, or fight if you encounter monsters. The combat is turn based, ala pokemon, etc. One glitch(?) during combat, is when you're attacked there is a plain ugly white square that pops up around the monster (visible in the video). I hope that this can get fixed in an update. You can return to town at any time to rest, buy/sell items, learn new combat attacks and magic spells. Once I encountered a merchant inside the dungeon as well. Death results in being sent back to town with a loss of half your gold. The interface is clean, fast and intuitive. The pace is good, which I find important in games of this type. Overall, quite a nice little game. Progress through the dungeon is addictive in the same way roguelikes can be, the upgrading of your character's stats, weapons/armor and learning of new skills/spells adds a good amount of depth. If you've enjoyed games like Cozy Quest, Yipe5, Fargoal, or any of the roguelikes I think you should check this out. Rivozzz Well-Known Member Oct 6, 2009 975 0 0 #16 Rivozzz, Jan 29, 2010 Any hope to fix to work on all 3.0 whodawhanow? Active Member Dec 31, 2009 31 0 0 #17 whodawhanow?, Jan 29, 2010 Dungeons and Such is an events driven game similar to Dragon Warrior in the look and feel. The object is to get to the bottom of the dungeon and save the princess. You can start as a human or an elf (I did human). You have four stats, which when you start can be randomized, but they add up to 38. They are strength (for damage and using better weapons and shields), stamina (for health and to endure abilities, intelligence (for MP), and agility (to dodge attacks and wear armor). The graphics are fairly crisp, if a little bit cartoonish, which I liked. The gameplay is addictive and not at all hard. You can attack a single monster by tapping it, or slash across the screen to attack multiples. The more you attack (determined by the length of your slash) the less damage you do to them all. You gain XP and gold for each successful fight. You must kill all monsters to get this. Sometimes they drop an item or two as well. Go up levels and you get 3 stat points to use as you choose. I built agility up first as it helped me stay alive longer by dodging, the strength to use better weapons. Stamina went up consisently but not in big chunks. I waited on intelligence as you generally don't have enough mana or money to cast/buy spells yet, but it is now my highest stat. The town starts with just a store, where you can buy potions (health and mana mainly), weapons, armor and rings. Eventually you will unlock the inn (to rest), the barracks (to gain attack skills), the cathedral (to gain magic spells) and even later, the hill. Levels are randomly generated events. There are fights, treasure chest, rest areas and some interaction with other people. Randolph appears and barely talks to you until you get down further in the dungeon. He is looking for the princess too. A girl (forgot the name) acts as a mobile/random trader. Sometimes you meet a ribbiting turtle who gives you little tips about the game, but I usually had determined them by the time he mentioned them. Once you go down a level in the dungeon, you can't go back up, unless you use the Home Stone, provided at the very beginning, which teleports you back to town. You must then make your way down the dungeon again. Each tenth level (atleast 10th and 20th) you gain a stone which you can use on the hill to teleport to that level. On the 9th level is a fairly decent "boss". I didn't find a boss on 19th. Some tips. You only have 20 inventory slots, which early on will be taken up mostly by medicinal herbs (20 HP recovery). It will be hard and you will have to dump items (from the item menu) periodically, unless you make very frequent trips back to town or meet the travelling merchant girl. Later this won't become as bad. You will need more herbs, but you will use them more frequently, and you will also gain the heal spell, which takes away some need. Move quickly through the levels. The longer you stay in one level, the harder the monsters become on that level. This increases your chance to find items as drops, but item drops usually aren't that good. I was able to bumrush to 12th (with some very lucky hits on the 9th lvl boss) before I could have normally survived it. This allowed me to leisurely go through 1-8 again to gain experience and then tele back to 10 to make a push to 20, which worked flawlessly. I then went back to 10 to gain more levels, etc. Overall a very very good game. Very addictive. Now, the cons, which one is minor and one is something I hate. As stated previously, the monsters light up white in their "container" when they attack. Not even annoying, but it does happen. It might be intentional and that wouldn't bother me. The bigger one, from my standpoint, is that it stops my music. I don't care who your music designer is, your choice of music, dev, will NEVER be better then *my* personal music. Have an option to allow music passthrough for those who like it. Very highly recommended for 2.99$. I believe this is one of them. Unless it not your cup of tea type of game. songbird Well-Known Member Dec 4, 2009 4,449 0 0 #20 songbird, Jan 31, 2010 Thanks, that did answer my question!
