Been reaching higher waves without leveling up the characters and have barely unlocked new characters! For those on the fence, it’s a roguelite action game with a lot of unlocks in terms of characters and skills. The unlocked skills gets added to the pool of skills that you are presented with when leveling up. The challenges (at least in the beta) is tough. I do hope the challenges have be tweaked a bit more. I’m looking forward to unlocking everything again. #Bonk3rZ Well-Known Member Mar 20, 2014 335 36 28 top of the world #8 #Bonk3rZ, Feb 23, 2023 Last edited: Feb 24, 2023 Quick question: are there any fx sounds at all? Any new skills seems to get added to the pool of skills for all blades. Seems like there's no reason at the moment to level past 4. Sounds like there could be plan in the future for levels past 4. Opinions on the games vs each other? tops2 Well-Known Member Jan 21, 2011 2,083 56 48 #15 tops2, Feb 25, 2023 It feels pretty different to me. Brotato feels more like experimentation with different weapons and skills, with the main focus on the mix of weapons. There's some management of resources. The little I've played, it feels like I'm just moving around, dodging to survive. This game feels closer to Vampire Survivors with leveling up skills in game. There is some tactical play of using light attacks vs heavy attacks. I feel like I'm in control of the player and where the action can go vs Vampire Survivors/Brotato where in those, I'm dodging and making the best out of the situation (most of the time). Did I miss something? tops2 Well-Known Member Jan 21, 2011 2,083 56 48 #18 tops2, Feb 25, 2023 That's the main issue I have with this game. There's enough things that's not explained and the descriptions aren't very clear. I wish the description will also have description that shows what increases using "plain English" vs the thematic descriptions. It does sound like an item/monsters list is being worked on. My assumption for Infernal Runes are they are kinda like timed traps on the ground that keeps damaging the enemies. There are also runes later that seems to be mines. The following are for the currencies you find in the game. Each of these have a thematic name but I always forget their names.. The smaller green gems levels up the character in game. The larger round green gems are the persistent gem level ups. There's another "rectangularish" gem that either lets you level up (if you find level up spots on the ground) or reroll skills. The gold is to buy more blades/characters. #Bonk3rZ Well-Known Member Mar 20, 2014 335 36 28 top of the world #19 #Bonk3rZ, Feb 26, 2023 I watched closely, but couldn't see anyone get hurt by these. Will give it some more close looks. (I also tried standing on them for quite a while in the hope for some power boost, but standing still wasn't a good idea either.) Still early in the game though, yet have to beat wave 15 in the first two worlds. I'm really not a fan of too much handholding, but there should at least be a way to look for informations important to the game. Like encyclopediae for monsters once you've encountered them, especially when the game wants you to kill a specific one to unlock things. tops2 likes this. This game came a long way since its original post- mostly due to the great community here. I have updates coming soon that improve descriptions, UI layouts on newer iphones, and add screen shake options. As for inferno runes, they create big aoe zones on the ground that inflict burning on anyone who walks over them. I also wanted to let people here know that I have an early access version of Ultra Blade on steam. If anyone wants to help me refine that experience (I'm new to PC ports), please email me @foolishmortalstudios or dm me on twitter (@_FoolishMortal) and I'll send you a steam key https://store.steampowered.com/app/2165420/Ultra_Blade/ Cheers! tops2, decript, sebgo and 2 others like this.
