This one looks great! It has this Space Marshals feel. Plays very similarly so far. There’s progression, skill tree, a lot to collect. I like it a lot. We’ll see about the difficulty and how it holds up throughout the campaign. But so far so good. Just the heads up. It’s quite choppy at first launch thanks to 30 fps being set by default. To get 60 you need to enable it manually in options. @agreen437 dunno if it was a question but controllers are supported. I tried with a dualshock and it worked just fine. ste86uk and houseofg like this. sakara214ever Well-Known Member May 10, 2012 1,262 168 63 #5 sakara214ever, Feb 16, 2023 This looks amazing. It’s a more strategic game having to use cover and know when to reload, etc. Controls are far from horrendous when playing the game correctly. May not be your thing but it is for many others. Havelcek Well-Known Member Patreon Bronze Apr 30, 2013 588 62 28 #13 Havelcek, Feb 19, 2023 What I don’t like is how the game puts this emphasis on aiming but then mobs just swarm into your body at such a fast rate. The sensitivity of the aiming stick and the small area of the UI for the stick (on iPad) makes me constantly overcorrect on the aim and then have a dead stick when you are slightly off center of the touch area. Just doesn’t feel well tuned and missing a lot of the QOL customizations for the UI that you see in this genre. Compounding the above I feel that there are issues with the hit boxes when the mobs are on top of you as well. Feels like you frequently miss shots on the shorter mobs when they are on your body. Keep in mind, though, that several of the games they’ve released came out originally in other platforms to great reviews (see Kentucky Road Zero and TMNT as cases in point). To be clear, my reaction was not directed at your take on the game, but the “surprise” at it being well received. The fact that people disagree with you (or anyone) shouldn’t come as a surprise. Talbs Well-Known Member May 1, 2011 2,616 377 83 #16 Talbs, Feb 19, 2023 I actually agree with this. I played for a couple of hours but just couldn’t get past how finicky the touch controls feel. even when trying my best to use cover and kite tactics rather than run and gun, you eventually get swarmed and I just couldn’t get the controls to target enemies effectively enough in the heat of the moment. It’s wayyy to easy to slightly miss enemies, and I also couldn’t find a way to cancel a shot hence you waste a bullet. I feel a hand controller would have this all sorted, but that’s not how I want to play this game. I feel this game will be great for those using hand controller, but for me at least using touch, it’s way to jank. I don’t think it plays as well as Space Marshals, graphics aside, but the roguelike-ish structure is enough to grab me since it doesn’t play bad, but it all just felt too unclear and cluttered on an iPhone X, whilst Space Marshals 2 is very clear and looks gorgeous. I haven’t tried them myself but it’s a bummer to read about the folks that aren’t liking them. I had a feeling this would be a “controller game”, so I’ve been using my old Mad Catz controller since the start. Although I’m not that far in, I’m personally enjoying Dust & Neon. Let’s hope they tighten up the controls for those that don’t use controllers. I’m still fascinated that this is a $30 game on pc and consoles. I found a review from a site called WayTooManyGames that seems pretty fair and well thought-out (6.5/10). There was also a tip for the skill tree upgrades that I think I’ll try out. He makes some good points about the shortcomings of the game (having to manually reload in the heat of battle and the lack of the ability to vault over cover), as well as what he liked about the game. Just keep in mind it was reviewed on PC. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
