Simple, fast pace, good sound, nice 1 bit graphics with excellent animated visual cues. Plus the cat is cute. Based on the App Store there seems to be some data tracking. I guess it’s just for the leaderboards, achievements, advertisement when you die, and the iap to remove ads. I think I am going to purchase the remove ad iap, the game is quite fun and nice for iOS. I started it up earlier today and finally had time to give it my attention just now. Wow. Flawless execution of a game. I don’t mean to over hype it, but this far exceeded my expectations from that brief play I had before starting the thread and leaving for the day. The best way I can describe it is it’s like a 1 bit version of Death Road to Canada. The gameplay is really fun and, being that it’s turn based, the controls work perfectly (and the shot animation is so cool). You’re tasked with getting the gas can for your car and moving on to the next day while trying to conserve your resources (health and ammo). You have quite a wide view of your surroundings, but chests and enemies are slightly obscured by a pixelated vignette around the very edges of the screen. You’ll be navigating tight areas and either a) shooting enemies, b) stabbing them if you’re right next to them, or c) avoiding them. There are ammo boxes to reload your four-round chamber, heath kits, etc., and they’re all so well spaced apart. The difficulty and pacing are perfect, in my opinion (keeping in mind I’ve only played one 23 minute run so far). At the end of each week, you get to choose between two upgrades, like bullets that pierce multiple enemies, increased max health, etc. but you have to find the wrench in the levels leading up to it or no bonus. I survived 18 days on my run and I think I got maybe two ads? And they weren’t the obnoxious ones with 5 different countdown timers. Next time I open the game I’ll be buying the support IAP. mastery51 likes this. mastery51 Well-Known Member Oct 21, 2009 506 254 63 #4 mastery51, Jan 28, 2023 Last edited: Jan 28, 2023 The game is pretty solid already. I wonder what can be done now for updates. To give the developer something to work on and add to the experience without losing its simplicity. Ideas: *Maybe some slight differences in goals once in a while, like find food, find water, find car part, etc.. Purely just for variety sake. It is a game though so it’s not necessary. *More hero types. *I’m kinda early in game but since the game has different environments maybe there can be environmental items/spaces like running on top of mud bogs causes you to skip a turn allowing the enemy to catch up or attack you. There can also be environmental areas that can hurt you or can be used on enemies like “spaces that are on fire” . These fire spaces can hurt but also lights up the area around it, etc.. Maybe some obstacles can be pushed around or into enemies so you can attempt to separate a group of enemies giving you vital turns to combat them each separately. *Another idea is you can find some special bonus consumables that can help you it tricky situations like stunning items, noise distractions and so on. *Maybe there could also be some very simple puzzle obstacles in a level for instance the gas can is in a walled off area (find crowbar> to remove a barricade> to get gas can). This can apply to keys, fuses, levers, buttons, doors, a gate blocking the cars exit, etc. Maybe some levels can even have a secondary sub level in it. For example, the level can have two areas in it to search, one is the outside area and the other can be a single building or a cave entry, i suppose like “Death road to Canada”. This can expand the game and give some variety in levels. Just some possible random ideas that hopefully won’t make it overly complex. This game is excellent. Don’t miss it! Tips for starting out: • Bats, insects, and some other creatures can be killed in one hit using the knife. Save your ammo for the other enemies. • Search each area thoroughly to make sure you find the wrench before the end of each week. It allows you to unlock a bonus perk at the end of that week. • If possible, use all your ammo before getting a refill. Same with your life: try to only get health when you’re all the way down to one. • Head straight to your car after getting gas as long as your health and ammo is full and you’ve checked all the chests for the wrench. Bring as many enemies back with you and try to position them in front of your car. Even enemies that are just below or above the car will get run over as long as they’re between the car and exit. • Pay attention to where you park at the start of the level - this helps find the quickest route back when you’re ready to leave. Same goes for unused health and ammo drops. • Learn about the enemies movements, attacks and health. Some enemies can be shot and then finished off with the knife to save ammo. You can manipulate where the enemies walk if you learn how they move and pay attention to your surroundings. There are more strategies that I picked up so feel free to ask for help.
