OddAlun Well-Known Member Dec 2, 2017 81 40 18 #4 OddAlun, Jan 13, 2023 Still have to actually play... 1) No autorotate 2) A lot of UI needs translation to english Example: News button pops up a window all Chinese, accidentally hit "Apply" in Settings and whole app changed to Chinese. GamerGirl87 Member Jan 12, 2023 15 2 1 Female #5 GamerGirl87, Jan 14, 2023 Sands of Salzaar for me is really good game and the game play is very interesting. It does take time to understand all the core mechanics but once its done everything is mostly solid. naghihimutuc Well-Known Member Mar 11, 2020 111 58 28 #6 naghihimutuc, Jan 14, 2023 Okay. First of all, this thing requires you to “log in”. It’s a Chinese app and it may be a requirement in their country to supply this prompt. There WILL be some gameplay data and privacy hoohah collected and if that turns you off then don’t bother reading this and go play Siralim Ultimate instead (highly recommended!). THAT SAID… TLDR: …It’s f*&k!ng isometric Mount and Blade. Someone mentioned this in a review I read and I didn’t care anymore. Insta-buy. Yes, I encountered that stupid login window but who the hell cares (some of you might—me, actually also, but I maintain cautious optimism ahaha). Okay, it’s simpler and sometimes feels a bit more like a strategy-RPG mishmash of Diablo and Dynasty Warriors. There is some resource management involved (basically food and weapon/armor durability for your heroes but it’s all actually pretty manageable; if you’ve played trading/merchant sims, 4X games, or even action RPGs, you’re bound to figure that out fast. Time moves in real-time—I’m not sure how many minutes is a day, but I’ve somehow battled my way to level 5 (and won a big siege battle by piggybacking onto a nearby faction) in 2-3 hours and spent 19 in-game days. Since this is an action RPG-strategy mashup, the battles are done in combat zones (kinda like Mount and Blade) and can be initiated either by running into an enemy party or in an event. You can also intervene in a battle against two opposing armies, where you’ll be prompted to pick a side. These battles are pretty big (hence my mentioning Dynasty Warriors) but a reviewer mentioned you can pretty much overpower ANYTHING with a decently upgraded, massive enough army. There are also two unit types that will join your party: heroes and mercenaries. Heroes are individuals who have their own unique skills and inventory. Mercenaries are masses of usually 5-10 individual units. These two types both level up but while heroes have skills, mercs when leveled up enough can be upgraded into different elite versions. Both type of units eat (but again, you probably won’t have to worry unless you plan a ten unit army of heroes and mercs). Also, there’s a faction system. If you’ve played Star Traders Frontiers or any other RPG that features this you know what I’m talking about. Gain favor with Kingdom A and risk the ire of Kingdom B. Do favors for Kingdom B so they don’t get super mad at you—while staying the hell out of Kingdom A’s way because you’re already BFFs with them. I’m not gonna lie, I’m amazed by how big and somehow compact the whole package is. Translations are rough around the edges (some dialogue options with some heroes are still in Chinese as well as some buttons). The combat can be a bit floaty. The tutorial is the equivalent of a 5 paragraph pamphlet (which might be helpful to some) and the intro feels like you’re thrown off the deep end at the start. It’s pretty damn rough. But vanilla Mount and Blade’s wonkiness kinda grew on me and at the moment, things are starting to gel with this game for me (also you can play this thing offline. I think the online aspect is mostly for the arena/tourney DLC they’re selling but I wanna get farther into the game before I start considering that). …I mean, I’m supposed to be working on something and here I am at 2:26 am, writing a review for this thing. If this happens to you and you have an ongoing campaign that you want to keep, you have to back up your save files via iTunes File Sharing before deleting, since there is no cloud save support. EDIT: Fixed in the 1.0.17 patch. Thanks, devs! nickhoola and naghihimutuc like this. naghihimutuc Well-Known Member Mar 11, 2020 111 58 28 #8 naghihimutuc, Jan 21, 2023 Oh yeah, this happened to me. I discovered that if you mess with the settings in-game though it won’t mess up the language. But that also reminded me of this which I never did get. I see Siralim is no longer updated but this seems to be and has 3 DLC’s for it. Would anyone recommend one over the other or are both still great? anthony78 Well-Known Member Nov 13, 2015 3,128 703 113 #10 anthony78, Aug 22, 2024 **deleted** sebgo likes this.
