I see there’s a shop with gems and only purpose of those (I found so far) is to exchange them for coins. And amount of coins seems to be fairly scarce right off the bat. You’re paying for everything and earning very little. Dunno if there are any interstitial ads yet. I’d like a fully premium experience of some sort because I don’t do gems. But it’s Infinite Dreams and I’ve sinked literally hundreds of hours into their games (Sky Force or Can knockdown sagas) so I’m sticking around for a while. The idea behind the game is similar to the original N-Gage game regarding the “wanna catch ‘em all” of all the creatures in each section: catch, discover new fish, get rare objects, fish ultra rare creatures, etc. This is good IMO. 2. I feel fishing is less of a challenge than in the original. In here, you throw the reel by touching the zone you want to, and then you wait for the perfect moment to click the screen and catch whatever creature/object bit the bait. Getting the bait back to the boat is fully automated. In the old one, aside from throwing the reel far or near depending on an energy bar which went up and down automatically and stopped when you hit the button (which is not too much of a loss, I don’t really care about this), the real challenge was -aside from clicking the button at the perfect moment to get the fish hooked to the bait- that there was an energy bar which represented how tight the string was, and you had to click the button at the right moments so that it didn’t get too tight nor too loose. This is completely missing here, and I think it would add loads of kudos to gameplay. As it is, it’s okay, but I prefer more challenge in the fishing. 3. I’ve hit the first wall. It’s not a paywall, it’s a time wall: “come back tomorrow and I’ll have more missions for you”, that’s the message I got. I’m nearly level 2, but not there yet, so I have to wait. I don’t like these artificial walls that force me to stop playing the story to level up and only let me farm fish and coins (maybe there’s a way to continue leveling up, but I haven’t found it, so I’ll stand corrected). I’m too old to have all the time in the world to play, so I play what I want when I can. If I can’t play what I want when I can because of these time walls, in the end I finish up quitting the game because they force me to play sessions which are not always compatible with my life. I’ll continue giving this game a chance tomorrow (or Sunday…) because of all the fond moments I remember with the original, but the time wall for me is “oh no, come on, I can only play now, not tomorrow…”. 4. IAP: I’m not sure about this. As of now, I don’t need to buy gems because they’re only an easy way of getting coins and just by fishing you get enough profit to be always in black numbers (even with the 100 coin/heli trip you have to pay to go back and forth and the broken fishing rods… I’ve already broken two). But I’m still level 1, so maybe when different sections of the “home island” become unlocked, I’ll discover that gems are used for something else which is crucial to continue evolving the character. Maybe a dev could comment on how IAP are going to work exactly? (Only coins or something else too?). EDIT: 5. Day/night cycle: some creatures can be caught during the day and night, others only during the day and others only at night. I’m not sure, but I feel this day/night cycle is the true 24h one we have, and not game-based. If this is the case, it’s a disaster: I work during the day and can only play at night, so does this mean I can only catch night creatures and day-night creatures, but not day-only creatures? Hopefully a dev could clear this out too. On a side note, I’m really missing the possibility of playing in portrait mode. Fishing games can suit portrait as good as landscape (in fact, the original N-Gage game was portrait-oriented), so if this game could add portrait mode, it would be great (at least for me). macplash likes this. macplash Well-Known Member Apr 17, 2014 2,645 1,103 113 Male 3D artist Munich, Germany #13 macplash, Nov 5, 2022 THIS! This is Tomek from Infinite Dreams. So glad some of you haven't forgotten about our old game Hooked On: Creatures of the Deep. Thank you for downloading our newest production. We really appreciate you taking the time out to share your experience with us. Answering your questions and issues. 1. ADS: “One ad for 1 MISERABLE GOLD COIN!”. This is definitely a bug. Thanks for reporting. We've turned off the ads. We will try to fix this in the next update 2. FISHFIGHT "I feel fishing is less of a challenge than in the original" Most common fish and items are caught without a fight. However, rare fish, epic fish and monsters require more effort from the player. 3. TIMEWALL “I’ve hit the first wall. It’s not a paywall, it’s a time wall " That's right, all quests aren't available on day one. Sometimes you have to wait. However, for us STORY is just a side-story to the game. You can still catch all fish, items and sea creatures. Gain experience, earn money and unlock new fisheries without waiting for the next day. 4. IAP "I've been playing for awhile now and I have yet to see a reason to pay any money." It looks like we have a monetization problem as usual iAPs are designed to accelerate the game progress (ex. quick exchange of gems for coins to unlock new locations). You can also buy some stuff for your boat (it gives you nothing extra, only the super cool appearance) or buy extra glasses for your avatar. Without iAPs you can easily unlock all locations and catch everything in the game. 5. Day / night cycle "it's a disaster" Yes, this is a true 24 hour cycle. The night runs from 9:00 PM-5:00 AM. Our biggest concern was the children who have to go to bed at 8pm and won't be able to fish at night until they are older That is why we have introduced nets that can be left in the water for 24 hours and catch something when we are away. 6. "possibility of playing in portrait mode" For the first six months of production, the game ran in portrait mode. We decided to switch to landscape mode later. We will consider going back to this mode as an option. 7. "the only way to open the chests is to watch an ad" If you don't like ads (as we do), feel free to skip the crates. You will only find coins or gems there - nothing interesting On behalf of the whole team, thank you very much for all the opinions. The problem is you can fit only 5 items in the bag. Now, early in the game the payout for fish or items is very low. I assume it'll go up with more rare fish, but for now, it's really unbalanced. For me it's usually between 30 and 40 coins per fish. By paying 100 coins for the helicopter for each trip to the sea (and ocassional broken fishing rod), we're barely covering the cost for these trips. I mean, 5 fish (or items) per trip? Realistically, that amount would fit into a small bucket. Just doesn't make sense. I understand we can eventually buy additional slot(s), but still. Very limiting. But I understand you're trying to keep the player invested in the game for a longer run. I'm just not sure if this is the right way. Alex DeLargest and ste86uk like this.
