Or at least the ramp up in difficulty is too fast. I like somewhat simplified RTS games like this. Bad North is one of my favorite games on mobile but I’ll probably pass on this if it’s as difficult as the first game. Also not a fan of all the additional IAPs. adamphetamine likes this. I really enjoyed the first Iron Marines except for the missions that felt more "puzzle-like"(?) I honestly can't remember clearly but I enjoy just basic levels + objectives but I don't like being forced to use a certain comp or navigate traps which I recall some levels had. I guess they do mix the gameplay up a bit. Nonetheless, I've been waiting for a sequel for so long, I can't wait to see what's in store here. I did feel like the first game was too short as I beat it very quickly. adamphetamine likes this. adamphetamine Well-Known Member Jan 4, 2011 968 31 28 Programmer/3D Modeling Bethlehem, Pa #6 adamphetamine, Sep 8, 2022 Enjoying the game but...these iaps are a bit much. Maybe charge $0.99 but not the $5 or so they are asking. orangecan Well-Known Member Aug 9, 2011 2,000 150 63 #7 orangecan, Sep 8, 2022 Yeah I’ll be avoiding this on principle of the amount being asked for iap. I’m never happy with iap in paid games anyway but I’ll forgive it if it’s small and unobtrusive but this all seems a bit too much Mercurial Well-Known Member Apr 17, 2020 52 19 8 Male #8 Mercurial, Sep 8, 2022 This is one of the main issues if you look at user reviews of Ironhide's previous titles, so why would they do it again? Arrogance? nkarafo Well-Known Member Mar 2, 2011 864 14 18 #9 nkarafo, Sep 8, 2022 No, it is called GREED. There are so many du@# people who enjoy spending hundreds and thousands of money to iaps in games (see the latest Diablo for example) and many companies follow this same path with iaps, high difficulty, etc as well. Pity.. Mercurial Well-Known Member Apr 17, 2020 52 19 8 Male #10 Mercurial, Sep 8, 2022 Yeah, agreed. Lots of whales out there willing to spend serious money on IAPs. ste86uk Well-Known Member May 9, 2012 6,774 1,000 113 #11 ste86uk, Sep 8, 2022 Hm I’ve had this preordered a while and it didn’t list any iap back when I ordered it so I was hoping…but guess shouldn’t be surprised. Honestly I’m not sure how I feel…I may refund as in the older games iap heroes didn’t bother me as they certainly didn’t feel necessary at all so it was just an option that’s extra but charging for units too? Just like Vengance charging for towers and heroes it was just too much. I know I don’t have to have them but just the fact they are there makes me feel I’m missing out if I don’t own them the units aspect especially, heroes I can live with if there’s a few free ones. Units that get unlocked are quite powerful compared to non-IAP units, particularly the robot Kaiju ones. IAP Heroes are not so powerful compared to the default ones, but the aerial heroes are quite game changing with their ability to ignore terrain. I don’t think you are really missing out since units/heroes that are available by default are quite distinctive already. I personally think the base price is right with the amount of contents. If you’ve finished the game and want something different on your second play through, you might want to consider those bundles. ste86uk likes this. They had the premium games since kingdom rush and then some heroes with iaps. With the exception of kingdom rush vengeance which also had iaps with some towers. So why is it different now? I do not say those who say iaps are bad are wrong but since i remember ironhide had the same model. Mercurial Well-Known Member Apr 17, 2020 52 19 8 Male #15 Mercurial, Sep 9, 2022 Try Xeno Command by ChillyRoom, its in early access and you can try it for free and there's a one time purchase to unlock full game. Rather spend money on this RTS than on Iron Marine. Quoad Well-Known Member Apr 17, 2015 1,108 217 63 #16 Quoad, Sep 9, 2022 That is totally fair comment, and this does now ring bells. When the original(s) came out, the App Store was a different place, and tbf I was different too - probably buying 2-3 premium games each week. The frequency of high quality premium games has fallen off a cliff, and it’s now rare for me to buy a game a month. Because of that, I suspect I’ve become even more binary in my approach to games, and even more cynical about iap unlocks - I’m not buying every week, and I doubt I’ve seen an otherwise-not-unlockable playable content unlock in months. Years? So, yeah. It’s on me. Fair comment. This is old practice, but I have grown old with it. sakara214ever likes this. The titan replacement are significantly overpowered, and agree the iap fundamentally changes the balance of the game. From “lots of challenge” to “I’ll just stroll this laser dinosaur and fire ship through here with a couple of rocket troops.” Unsure if I regret getting them, makes the game much more easy, and it is a no brainer to use them once you’ve got them. Other units significantly less useful. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
