My understanding is CC was an extremely bad port regardless of platform. Even runs like trash on PS5 / XSX. So even if SE really do port it over, it is unlikely going to be a good experience. It only runs at 30fps, but I haven’t noticed any glitches, fps dips, or other quality issues. I tried running the iso for CC on Duckstation (on the series x) and going to 60 fps totally breaks the game. If nothing else, the port is at least as good as emulating it on a console. * CC is a massive game, so it is possible that I just haven’t encountered any issues yet. I guess this is exactly why so many people frown upon mobile gaming. squarezero Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Dec 10, 2008 13,715 1,240 113 Male Chief Strategy Officer Salem, Massachusetts, USA #11 squarezero, Apr 27, 2022 Not really. The game seems to be set up as a visual novel/action JRPG hybrid — something that’s familiar from consoles and handhelds. Now, the gatcha system, IAPs, and stamina timers — that’s something people do have an issue with . L.Lawliet likes this. L.Lawliet Well-Known Member Jun 28, 2011 6,405 420 83 #14 L.Lawliet, Apr 28, 2022 I like dialogue. I don't like *too* much (aka FGO and Arknights) but I'm a JRPG fan so lots of dialogue is important. In fact, if there's not a decent amount of dialogue I may not even want to play. If I don't care about the story or characters, I lose motivation to play. If it's a simple "Angry Birds" game then I could care less but for an involved game like a JRPG, I want to get invested in the characters. I don't want to just battle randomly and have no idea why. kopicha Well-Known Member Feb 21, 2015 716 25 28 IT #15 kopicha, Apr 28, 2022 Actually you are only partially correct. First of all CC:RD is not exactly remaster. CC is actually a rom running via emulator with some updated assets and AI upscaling backdrops in the new graphics mode and you have the option to switch back to classic mode. I am not sure of your level of fps detection. But the truth is the game runs the same on ALL platforms. It don’t matter if you have a Series X. Even a far more powerful PC does not change anything in this game when it comes to performance. Especially in the new graphics mode. Good thing is for PC at the very least they have the ability to “mod” with unofficial patch and fixes to make the game run more consistently. However in its original form it does not matter you are playing on Switch, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox One X, PS4, PS4 Pro, Series S, Series X, PS5 or even PC. They all runs like crap. You are correct in the sense that the target fps in this game is 30fps. But saying there is no drop, no offence I think you have a problem in fps detection. If that is the case then probably that is fine by your standard. But there are people who can be sensitive to such thing. I can tell you regardless of platform the game can drop fps to as Low as 10~15fps especially in combat sequence. To make it sound worst, there are even times the game actually run worst than the game running in original PS1. This is probably the worst “port” that SE does till date with their classic game which is a fact. Even Digital Foundry calls it Chrono Cross Radical Nightmare rather than a dream comes true. Just sharing to people who are looking forward for this to happen and the very least if you are, set your expectation before you get disappointed.
