More elements being added though progress. Sure need a faster loading weapon. Have upgraded starter gun twice but hasn’t much difference. Well coded game though. Exactly right amount of challenge for me, which is kind of rare. millstreamgames likes this. millstreamgames Member Mar 24, 2022 8 5 3 Game Publisher Helsinki, Finland https://www.millstreamgames.com/ #8 millstreamgames, Mar 25, 2022 Thank you for taking the time to post, I'm glad you're enjoying the game! A couple more upgrades have made an effective gun. I have a question about multipliers. I’m not sure what I’m doing that increases the multiplier. Please advise. millstreamgames Member Mar 24, 2022 8 5 3 Game Publisher Helsinki, Finland https://www.millstreamgames.com/ #10 millstreamgames, Mar 25, 2022 The multiplier is increased by defeating enemies. In Deadlocked, your kill count per run is also your score multiplier, which increases the amount of points you gain per second. Ultimately, this score is used to calculate score bonus gold in addition to the gold earned from completing challenges and collecting coins in the run. This is far from nitpicking and I value this tremendously. Font size definitely gets too small on smaller devices, so I'll be sure to work on that. In order to keep a consistent style with all UI elements, this requires a bit more work when resizing, but the task is in my backlog. Dark atmosphere, especially in the Outskirts, also certainly makes the enemies a bit hard to see at times. It's not only you, I assure you! I'm looking at ways to make this more user-friendly, either giving the level more light as a whole or giving the enemies a bit more "pop" with for e.g. emission. Slide kills, my poor choice of words that I'm about to change in the very near future. Sliding cannot be used as an offensive maneuver and the challenge should be actually named "Slide shots". My bad, this was not intentional and I'm sad to hear that it made your experience worse. Jumping on zombies is hard. I'm on the fence whether it's too hard, especially when the speed accumulates to a certain point. I've seen this happen with players, that they tend to ignore the challenge, effectively stumping their gold gains for that run since the challenge can't be skipped. I'll take this feature back to the drawing board. One of the biggest changes I'm rolling out for the first update are the animation adjustments, pretty much the exact ones you mentioned. Running, lane switching, shooting, camera follow animations are all something that I want to adjust to be more dynamic and less "janky". Monetization is a tricky beast. As a solo developer, my main goal is to spread around the same joy I got from creating a game to others in the form of a finished product. I'd never want my games to be obtrusive in the ways of IAP or ads, even if it means less revenue, but I might be open to look into options that could make players return to the game more often and maybe spend a buck or two if one wishes to support me.
