Let everyone play the game, let 1% of the players spend money if they want, 100% of the players could watch a rewarded ads if the want (they are player-triggered.) Premium Vs F2P has been a debate for over a decade. You have been a member of TouchArcade for over 6 years, I'm sure you have seen a lot of conversion about this. I'm surprised that you ask the question like if F2P/IAPs were a rare thing. We think that it's possible to do a F2P game without being greedy and having all IAPs optional. No exclusive content is hidden behind the purchases or ads, and we have a ton of players that don't spend and reach the end of the game (without grinding for a year.) We don't have 100 popups at the start of the game to showcase IAPs special offers and to push them in the back of your throat. We don't offer any misleading purchase strategies or any subscription that are hard to cancel. I don't want to start an endless debate about that, but we think it's possible to make a non-premium game with IAPs that don't feel like a scam. Regards. It's perfect for small bites when you want to play something fun for a little while and not get stuck sitting there for an hour. I'm really enjoying it. The way the weapon system works is very clever. It looks like the main roadblocks would be health has to regen over time (or needs to be picked up in battle). Otherwise you can play at your leisure. I suppose I can see this becoming a big problem on the later worlds but we'll have to see since I just started the game. Really promising though! anthony78 Well-Known Member Nov 13, 2015 3,128 703 113 #10 anthony78, Jan 26, 2022 Was not a debate or questioning why you chose F2P. It was just a question on what the IAPs are for and if they are needed. Lots of people ask in game threads that are F2P. Appreciate the response. While on the map, you can switch heroes at any time. Also, if your hero is low on HP, you can go to previous worlds to grind Hearts. Sometimes I strike one and sometimes more than that, with the same weapon and with enemies all bunched together in the area I chose. I'm mainly asking because it looks like the first boss (wolf) has to be the third enemy hit among at least three enemies in order to take any damage...? I'm sure I'm just missing something but I'm hitting a wall (and not a wolf!) with that one! Different weapons have different AOE patterns. For example: the sword has a smooth cone shape, while the gauntlets have a more rigid pattern. When you go to attack, any enemies in your range will show a small circle around them indicating they will be targeted. As far as missing the wolf boss - some enemies can evade (like ghosts) but I think (if I remember correctly) the wolf has a shield that has to be broken before you can do damage. Hope that helps! Edit: you might be right about the wolf needing to be hit third. I just went back to beat him again and it did only seem to take damage on the third strike. That must be what the “3” means on the shield by his life bar. I guess just try to attack him when he’s in a group? One last edit: so I think the reason he has to be hit at least third is because as you attack more enemies in one turn, your combo goes up increasing damage done. So, in the case of the wolf, you must need enough power to hurt him by hitting at least two other enemies first. Also, to see weapon AOE, you can click on a weapon (outside of battle) to see the exact AOE pattern right below the weapon. It’s also helpful to check your weapons just before battle as there will be a thumbs up, thumbs down, or nothing. Nothing would be a regular damage attack, thumbs up would be higher, and thumbs down would be lower attack. So each group of enemies has strengths and weaknesses to different weapons. At least that’s my theory. Maybe the dev can shed some light and tell me I’m not (too) crazy. houseofg Well-Known Member Patreon Bronze Oct 1, 2013 1,611 82 48 #15 houseofg, Jan 27, 2022 Last edited: Jan 27, 2022 Thanks! Yes I've noticed the circles which I assumed meant those targets would be struck (or at least targeted) but I guess it is only indicative of weapon range. The AOE pattern is not something I noticed (and I didn't see anything in the desiring descriptions of my early stage weapons, at least), so I'll pay closer attention to that. Yeah I only target the wolf when in a crowd but I'll either not hit him third (which itself seems randomly determined) or won't even take 3 shots as previously noted. Really strange but I'm sure I'll figure it out. My edit 1 per your edit 2: Ok I see the AOE for the weapons now. Maybe I was looking while going into battle and it wasn't there...? Still, the axe, for example, shows a pattern that really should hit more than one enemy, yet I can swing into a crowd and take 1 shot. Dunno. I think with the wolf it's really a matter of him being able to block your first or second swing (the order of which I have no idea how to control) but maybe it's a combo power thing... again, dunno! You likely noticed it with other enemies, but as you attack multiple enemies your damage goes up, which is something you want to do anyway. The game decides combo order automatically based on which enemies you targeted, most of the time in a way that makes sense. However, not all weapons combo. In particular, “trap” weapons do damage without comboing, because they’re technically not an attack. This actually makes them entirely impractical against bosses but they do have other advantages. talf likes this. anthony78 Well-Known Member Nov 13, 2015 3,128 703 113 #17 anthony78, Jan 27, 2022 Downloaded it and can’t get past the loading screen.
