At first I was skeptical of the description (how can a game be “a precision platformer,” a “metroidvania,” and story-driven at the same time). But from what I’ve seen so far, that’s kind really what it is. One thing to keep in mind: the game starts with some pretty intrusive ads that pop up between stages, and no clear path to remove them. I was ready to give up on it when I made it to the game’s hub…and that’s when the purchase options popped up — including a fully offline, ad-free mode. Screen controls are good, BTW, though it also has full controller support. metalcasket, houseofg, Anotherkellydown and 1 other person like this. ste86uk Well-Known Member May 9, 2012 6,774 1,000 113 #3 ste86uk, Nov 4, 2021 @squarezero thanks for the review, I’ll give it a download and see what it’s like. The tip about the ads etc help as I may have quit before getting there if they were really intrusive. Any idea what the difference is on the iaps? I see remove ads and also premium player? squarezero Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Dec 10, 2008 13,715 1,240 113 Male Chief Strategy Officer Salem, Massachusetts, USA #4 squarezero, Nov 4, 2021 The premium player is fully offline (and maybe a few other perks). No consumable stuff. ste86uk likes this. Last time I checked, the thread was empty. Glad to see some action in here. Besides being bright, colorful and fun to play, you can also remove ads for a low price which is awesome. The game is well worth the $3 (or $5) you pay for it. Controls are customizable (I used this on my iPad mini) but they’re right where I like them on the phone. ste86uk and houseofg like this. houseofg Well-Known Member Patreon Bronze Oct 1, 2013 1,611 82 48 #6 houseofg, Nov 4, 2021 Last edited: Nov 4, 2021 Thanks for the imps, guys. I was surprised when I saw no comments in here yesterday. I figured this one would be sure to draw some attention, and here it is! Edit: I don't usually complain about controls but this game desperately needs virtual/floating directional buttons. That speed run (I hate those to begin with) at the end of the tutorial level was an exercise in frustration. metalcasket Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze May 24, 2010 11,065 1,342 113 Deepest Circle, Hel #7 metalcasket, Nov 5, 2021 Couldn't have said it better. This really does feel like a Best in Class platformer. Nothing like it on the App Store, and had the potential to be a complete flop had the different elements not come together the way they did. Even though they're completely different games, the closest thing that compares to this are the Bean's Quest games in that the sum of their parts truly bring together something special. Word from the wise: Turn off any ad blockers you may have if you want to go premium. I believe the prompt only comes up after ads. This was driving me crazy. squarezero and Anotherkellydown like this. Idk who recommended it but I freaking love mine. Makes it feel like a smaller undocked Switch. Anyway, I went with the $5 package and love my Mombo King skin squarezero Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Dec 10, 2008 13,715 1,240 113 Male Chief Strategy Officer Salem, Massachusetts, USA #11 squarezero, Nov 5, 2021 It was probably me — it’s like my favorite thing ever. But the new camera bump on the 13 messes up the fit, so Backbone made a 3D printed adapter available for free (you pay only shipping). They’re sending them out as fast as they can. If you don’t want to wait Backbone released the file that allows you to 3d print your own adapter (I recommend the backbone subreddit), my local library has one. Etsy also has a few entrepreneurs who have also printed some and are selling them at what I consider a reasonable price. squarezero Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Dec 10, 2008 13,715 1,240 113 Male Chief Strategy Officer Salem, Massachusetts, USA #13 squarezero, Nov 8, 2021 Thanks for the tip — I’ll see if I can get access to a 3D printer. Sharpie218 Member Jan 13, 2017 11 4 3 #14 Sharpie218, Nov 8, 2021 No problem. And yes this game is great. I had to force myself to stop playing, which for the record was nearly two hours and it barely drained any battery. What sorcery is this? (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
