I’m already impressed with the high standard of writing. It’s an alternative steampunk history, but the developers are not doing themselves justice by saying it’s set in “an England that never was”. They have clearly done a lot of research into what actually was. We can still sup ale at The Crooked Billet, reputedly haunted by the ghost of a highwayman hanged from a nearby tree. Cut Throat Wood was certainly used to ambush coaches travelling from London by the likes of Dick Turpin, and (spoiler) Wethered’s Brewery continued trading until the 1990’s. It’s not necessary to know the area though; a detailed map is included. Looks to be a superior production for anyone interested in gamebooks. ddunham Active Member Oct 5, 2011 40 2 8 Software Developer Tacoma, WA #3 ddunham, Sep 30, 2021 Looking at the screen shots, the text looked very fuzzy. Is it actually easy to read on a retina display? (I’m also disappointed they don’t seem to have a build that takes advantage of iPad.) Asp Well-Known Member Aug 3, 2017 769 196 43 #4 Asp, Sep 30, 2021 The text is emulating that of an old typewriter which probably explains the fuzzy screen shots. I find it perfectly legible on retina display. I wouldn’t usually play phone apps on iPad but it’s ok for gamebooks. I don’t notice the black bars after a while. ddunham likes this.
