Lord God Strockanos, the god of the universe, created the Mekaa continent out of chaos and formlessness. He poured his own blood into this land, underneath its thick crust of rocks. The gods of agriculture, destiny and death are all guardians of Mekaa, and the source of arcane magic. Therefore God´s Blood and arcane magic form the essentials of life in this world. Over the years, humans have become the "lords of all things" in Mekaa, from the original ancient clan of the Alrayans, the migrating Elruips, to the Normaasts who were "exiled" to the end of the world. Humanity has developed a variety of civilizations among mountains, on plains, or in the form of nomad tribes. Although there were conflicts between civilizations and different religions over time, the belief in the old gods, mainly Strockanos, has remained dominant. However, the advent of the "new god" Indies introduced to Mekaa a new faith, and a new "era" for the whole continent and human civilization. ABOUT THE GAME Indies' Lies is a single-player game that combines deckbuilding with Roguelike and RPG elements. It features procedurally generated maps, diverse talent/rune/partner mechanics, and hundreds of cards for different classes to ensure a refreshing experience each run. Indies’ Lies also has a thick plot set in a medieval fantasy world, with story adventures for each character. GAME FEATURES - Fun for Beginners, Depth for the Experienced With the hope to introduce the fun of the deckbuilding strategy to more players, we have adjusted and optimized traditional deckbuilding mechanics to create a smoother and more beginner-friendly gameplay. Meanwhile, more experienced players will find gameplay less restrictive yet challenging enough. - Take 9 Characters with Unique Traits on a Roguelike Journey Indies’ Lies now has 9 playable characters from 3 classes: Wizards, Rangers and Mechanists, with each character coming with a unique set of cards and talents. It will be a different journey each time on the procedurally generated maps, where you pick different cards, learn different talents, encounter different events and enemies. Explore the possibilities and find your favorite strategy! - A Partner System to Spice it Up Indies’ Lies puts you in command of a team of 1 hero and up to 2 partners. There are over 10 partners, all with distinctive cards and strengths. You can match the hero deck with hundreds of partners’ cards to try different tactics. Instead of acting as a mere tank, the partner brings on more room for flexible strategies and team tactics. - Craft Your Talent Tree A unique talent tree is procedurally generated for each run, and talents were designed to suit different classes and builds. There are over 200 talents in total, designed to meet the need for deck development at different stages and for different builds. - Explore a Medieval Fantasy World Step into Mekaa, a world caught in the clashes of Gods. By collecting clues for each character, you can unlock each story mode and dive into their quests, whether it is chasing a lost love, fighting the Seven Nightmares, or finding the culprit behind Mekaa’s fall into this dark frenzy. Will try to get a game in tonight. But probably won’t be able to play till tomorrow. Definitely looking forward to it. I had it preordered and was already downloading. I couldn’t wait so I’m diving in now. Will try to get back with impressions later. For reference by far my two favourite deck building card games are Slay the Spire and Night of the Full Moon. Update: Ok so I’m only a few mins in played three battles and some other little things. So far it seems like this is going to be great. If the game continues with how well it starts it’s going to be amazing. Just the way they have implemented the tutorial is something I have never seen. It’s like they went above and beyond to make sure you know how to play. It’s a tutorial (so far anyways) that seems like it’s been made for someone who has never played a deck building rpg as well as the veterans. Because you can opt out obviously, you can’t read the screens or even watch little embedded videos that show tiny gam play with instructions. You can just tell a lot of love has gone into it. The gameplay so far is good. Your normal cards and setup. But there is one new addition so far as you can get a bonus by playing cards in certain orders. Like attack attack skill or attack skill attack…. Etc. And of course the companions you can use ( I’m not there yet but still). On main screen I can see sooo much to look at. Looks like replay value will be high with tons to unlock and explore. As far as the price game is free comes with four characters. Two inn apps each with four more characters and I’m guessing a new campaign and cards. No adds or anything so far or timers or anything like that. Again this is after 10-15 mins of playing. But very early impressions are very good. houseofg and aussiepaul like this. But it does need one. I wonder why ? That may make me stop playing. Certainly won’t play off wifi if it will use a lot of data. Hopefully the developer shows up or someone can shed some light as to why it’s needed. L.Lawliet Well-Known Member Jun 28, 2011 6,405 420 83 #5 L.Lawliet, Sep 23, 2021 It's an online only game??? Gah I was so excited for this.... The art looked gorgeous too. Online connection is usually not needed at all in single player games, it's just a fail-safe to keep hackers at bay, at the expense of everyone who plays. Also online only games kill the hopes of being able to play the game once they decide to kill the servers when it's no longer profitable. Well I guess I'll go back to my NOTFM It's really hard to find iOS games the interest me these days. Almost all the good ones I like turn out to be going to Apple Arcade. That would just be the game design. And about data, you should check the privacy info on the app store. You'll raise your eyebrows at it. And I personally don't like the precedent of being okay with online games as long as they do xxx. Before people were okay with iap as long as it was reasonable, then it got out of hand. Now people are all okay with online single player games and now it's common on the app store. Every time I install a new game, I immediately turn off my internet to see if the game loads. Was really disappointed to see that this game requires a constant connection. If you turn it off mid game, it immediately warns you about it, meaning that there is a constant data transfer... Having one check at launch would have been ok but this is definitely not. Just as Lawliet said, NOTFM is a good alternative but this example is also interesting here because at some point they also required a constant internet connection. Maybe with some luck, the dev will change this for his game here? But appart from that, I still tried to play it and finished a run with the default character. Some mechanics are great, especially the possibility to have front and rear positions for additional characters. I can already see some broken mechanics but I clearly see some UI problem as well. No surprise here since the game has been just released but the screen on a phone can be pretty crowded. It's mainly a problem during longer combats when there are many statuses and you have to deal with them. Still, I'll keep an eye on this game. Maybe the dev will hear reason and remove this online requirement. As of right now, I think we can all play around with the free characters but I don't think buying IAPs is safe in the longer run Brightsiderus Well-Known Member Feb 1, 2017 2,236 540 113 #14 Brightsiderus, Sep 23, 2021 Nope, it doesn’t let me play in airplane mode, so it’s constantly checking you anthony78 Well-Known Member Nov 13, 2015 3,128 704 113 #15 anthony78, Sep 23, 2021 Are you saying it isn’t “safe” due to the online requirement? Had it been more common, you would be hearing a LOT more complaining. Look, at the end of the day, if devs don't flick a switch that disables something you've invested time or money in, Apple will probably have a hand in that happening. I've learned to live with the nature of iOS, knowing that nothing will last forever, but thanks to you all, and especially @elcrazy, I just re-downloaded NotFM and bought the remaining IAP I've not picked up, instead of investing time and money in this. While I don't mind the online requirement, it's too derivative of Slay the Spire for me to put that down.
