There’s something about trying to make the best out of the situation rolled each turn. In fact, DSD6 was a nominee for the 2015 Golden Geek Best Print & Play Board Game Award, which shows how good it is. Thanks to the app there’s no need print and cut out the components. Asp Well-Known Member Aug 3, 2017 769 196 43 #6 Asp, Sep 11, 2021 Well that’s good going. Winning on ‘normal’ is tough. Figuring out a winning strategy is not easy as the number of threats can increase quickly. First thing I do though is eliminate the scanners if possible, to avoid 3 of them accumulating and adding an extra problem. Never made the print and play version but was always curious. Basic game loop is really fun, but boy, even normal difficulty is so hard. But I’m guessing this is on par with real life board games where everyone gets those unlucky rolls! Echoseven Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze Jul 19, 2011 6,091 270 83 The red Skittle #9 Echoseven, Sep 12, 2021 It’s a base number based on the difficulty level, + hull remaining + shields remaining - number of rounds - total damage taken So the best ways to get a high score are to end a game as quickly as possible while taking as little damage as possible. Glad you posted it @Asp! Asp Well-Known Member Aug 3, 2017 769 196 43 #11 Asp, Sep 12, 2021 I was late finding it though as others here have been playing DSD6 for a while. I find it quite addictive as it’s like a combination of space sim and casino gambling game, with the anticipation of what the next roll of the dice will bring. Then trying to mitigate whatever complication occurs with my own dice roll. I’m hoping the developer can obtain licences for the full retail board game and its expansion sets in the future, as they include more ships, different systems, and more varied situations. Apparently this Print & Play version was intended to act as a free demo. aussiepaul, Jerutix and AltsKev like this. If you’re keen for RPG elements, look into Deep Space D6: Armada, the physical board game update and expansion.
