Loved the first one; I suppose I have to. Edit: I’ve done the tutorial and started on the first campaign mission. It looks like it could be great but there’s a big but… There seems to have been a rather strange decision made when it comes to the control scheme. Rather than right side changing aiming direction and left side controlling movement it seems that the whole screen controls aiming direction and when you want to move you must hold your thumb still for a moment on the left side and then the movement kicks in. After holding down for a moment the floating joystick appears and movement works as you would expect. If you don’t wait for that critical moment then any movement on the left side alters your POV, just as expected on the right side. It’s hard to describe, as I’m sure you can tell. It’s a baffling choice and I can only imagine that it’s some sort of mistake. It makes absolutely no sense. I certainly have hopes for it though. It’s got some of the sort of polish you’d expect and whilst it doesn’t look like it’s leaps and bounds ahead of the original graphically it’s still perfectly acceptable visually. I couldn’t find an online game yet but I’m sure that will come. Fingers crossed for a control tweak. Edit 2: Why is my player name my device name? Why can’t I change it? Weird. Edit 3: Just got into a 2 v 2 TDM. It was fun, despite the maddening control quirk. Tip: Turn off device vibrations. It goes off every time you drive through a wall, fence, car etc. I was hiding by a house and was evidently too close and the vibration activated constantly. Very strange. This almost feels like it was accidentally released too early. There’s a few rough edges and odd glitches that make it feel a touch underbaked. It can be (and is I think) simulated by nerfing the accuracy when in motion. The control issue is unrelated to the accuracy and is just unintuitive and awkward. I downloaded the first one again and it has the controls operating in the manner that I would expect. It definitely feels more “correct” (as subjective as that may be).
