Considering it's a simultaneous release with other platforms, I think it's fair that Squeenix price equally. That said...Am I going to pick it up? Certainly not. Do I think it's kind of overpriced for something that will eventually be left to rot like most other Squeenix titles when iOS eventually breaks it? Most probably. At the end of the day, I'm glad there's at least one developer who feels like iOS is an equal to "real" gaming platforms and offers folks like @CygnetSeven a choice if he's planning on picking it up regardless. It's a ballsy move and a reminder that iOS has the capability to take on the console greats. It's just a shame that so few people can see that.
It’s not hard to be equal with emulators and 16bit games. There were good releases like FF XV portable (buggy though), and Last Remnant, but at least in Russia Saga Frontier price on iOS is way higher than switch.
I'm just saying, the Switch is basically a modified Android tablet...and an outdated one at that. With something as simple as a fan, iOS devices would have absolutely no problem running anything that can run on Switch.
From everything I’ve read, recent iOS devices smoke the Switch on performance — even throttled. Anything that runs on Switch should run better on an iPhone 11 or 12 Pro, unless it’s a bad port. And an iPhone 12 Pro has a 6.1” screen, only 1” smaller than the original Switch’s 6.2” (a Switch Lite has a 5.5” screen). So it’s more accurate to say that a Switch is a modified Android Phone. A Switch is great for a $300 handheld device, and there’s all those great Nintendo exclusives that are not available anywhere else. But now that I have Backbone controller, if I have the choice to buy a game for my Switch or my iPhone, I go iPhone without a second thought. And if it’s about playing on my TV and there’s a choice, I will now always buy a game for my Xbox Series S over the Switch version. The last time I didn’t (Immortals Fenyx Rising) it was a big mistake — the Switch version is kinda terrible.
People want iOS to be considered a real gaming platform, but are shocked when asked to pay real game prices (not even half of a modern console game price by the way). This is why ftp is the future.
I agree. I have always been fine with paying the square enix prices especially for the Saga games since they’re so quirky and hit certain RPG buttons for me that final fantasy and dragon quest don’t (although I love both series). Yep. Cloud gaming is coming like a freight train right around the corner. I would genuinely not be surprised in ten to fifteen years if most gaming enthusiasts have a few cloud services they’re using at once and many will eventually see local gaming boxes as optional.
If anyone is questioning the quality of this remaster, it is unequivocally worth the price of admission. At least in my humble opinion. People don’t want to pay, so we get what we get.
If I wasn’t still working on Fantasian on Apple Arcade and Octopath Traveler on GamePass, I’d probably be all over this. But both of those, especially OT, are going to keep me busy for a while. It’ll be on my wish list though!
Same here. I mean, I bought it already because I’m dumb that way, but Fantasian is going to keep me busy for a while.
Was feeling stuck with Asellus, so checked an online walkthrough. Apparently in this room, White Rose is supposed to appear, but… she’s just hanging out in her coffin. Halp?
