Unfortunately I'm a bit skeptical since the reviews complain about lots of bugs. The dev seems like they fixed them but every single review is about how buggy the game is :\ Btw, it has an awesome app icon. aconfusedkender Well-Known Member Sep 28, 2012 1,362 122 63 Oil & Gas Kendermore, Ansalon #4 aconfusedkender, Mar 21, 2021 Hey L! Been a while...sheesh we’ve been around here over a decade this is very similar to NOTFM in terms of “progressing through the level” with the 3 card choices, beyond that it is pretty different with cards selections and abilities. I have NOTFM at almost 100% unlocked and have been a fan of them since that game came out. I think a lot of the bugs from the complaints have been worked out since the dev seems pretty active. I’ve played through one run as a rogue and died lol but started a 2nd run last night as the mage. I’d say for the price of a stupid Starbucks coffee, you can get a whole lot more value out of these few bucks than a coffee. I don’t think you’ll be upset by your purchase. If you are then L I will send you a refund via PayPal L.Lawliet likes this. aconfusedkender Well-Known Member Sep 28, 2012 1,362 122 63 Oil & Gas Kendermore, Ansalon #5 aconfusedkender, Mar 21, 2021 Another thing is the deck building aspect. There are different colors (think MTG) for mana that replenish each turn. Well you can make a deck with all Dex(green) cards if you want or you can add other colors and vary your deck. You can have a red/green deck if you want. There is also a “divine” or gold mana that you can tech tree if you want on the current run. Can’t remember if there are 5 or 6 characters to pick from plus a Scion mode (haven’t tried it yet) game is a lot deeper than I first thought. L.Lawliet likes this. L.Lawliet Well-Known Member Jun 28, 2011 6,405 420 83 #6 L.Lawliet, Mar 21, 2021 Hey pal! Yeah we've been on here forever. But luckily mobile gaming hasn't gotten any duller over the years. We lost a lot of premium games since we joined, but at least the mobile world is thriving. I'm so glad you also enjoy NOTFM. If someone likes that game, I know we're on the same wavelength I'm not even close to 100%, I need to beat all the difficulties - but dang that game is so much fun I don't mind. I can just play it whenever I feel like it and not get bored. That sounds like a good review coming from you. I guess my last question would be if it seems like it has good length / value? I would be disappointing if there wasn't enough variation that beating the game a few times and you'd see everything. NOTFM has so many things to do and so many routes, but of course, it's been out for way longer. I'm actually very much considering buying it. Maybe later today. Unfortunately being jobless during the pandemic makes me have to second guess all my purchases. Thanks a lot for the offer but don't worry, if I make a bad purchase that's on me. I appreciate the gesture nonetheless. aconfusedkender Well-Known Member Sep 28, 2012 1,362 122 63 Oil & Gas Kendermore, Ansalon #7 aconfusedkender, Mar 21, 2021 Well the game isn’t a cake walk that’s for sure. I’m still doing my mage run and I’ve beaten 2 bosses and there seems like a lot more I have to do. I’m only level 3. When you level up you get to put a point into a skill tree. There are 3 trees, each with 3 talents per level, and there so far I see are 5 levels per tree. So there is PLENTY of variety to try new builds and whatnot. Honestly, with the varying classes and deck options I can see this having some good length and breadth like NOTFM. I’ll have to beat it and see what I get for my efforts. Gonna take a couple runs though NOTFM does have some super sweet unlockables and stuff like the puzzles! L.Lawliet Well-Known Member Jun 28, 2011 6,405 420 83 #8 L.Lawliet, Mar 21, 2021 Now I'm even more excited to try it. I forgot to ask, is the interface good and smooth? NOTFM has the best card UI on iOS imo. I realized how much I took it for granted after I bought Slay the Spire on mobile. That UI was super clunky that I didn't want to play anymore. metalcasket Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze May 24, 2010 11,065 1,342 113 Deepest Circle, Hel #9 metalcasket, Mar 21, 2021 It's the "typo's" that have held me back from checking this out for the better part of a week. NOTFM is one of the few games where I've beaten a class. Notice I say "a" class. I'm hopeless but have fun at the same time! aconfusedkender Well-Known Member Sep 28, 2012 1,362 122 63 Oil & Gas Kendermore, Ansalon #11 aconfusedkender, Mar 21, 2021 So there are 6 “preset” characters to pick from and the Scion class, where you get to pretty much build a deck from scratch (pick your starting weapon “basic attacks” and put your own attribute scores where you want. Pretty cool!! The preset are just picking whichever starter deck you want to go with. Update on Mage run. Got smoked on 3rd boss! I think this is a game where your card choices matter a lot! I had an almost 40 card deck by then and think it was a little too beefy gonna try a smaller run. The option to delete card is free but you either rest or delete. Choose wisely heehee Also the deeper run on Mage showed me there are quite a few “Enchantment” cards which are pretty awesome. Cast once and lasts all combat with some pretty sick effects. Even have perks on some of them where they start in your hand first draw. aconfusedkender Well-Known Member Sep 28, 2012 1,362 122 63 Oil & Gas Kendermore, Ansalon #12 aconfusedkender, Mar 21, 2021 Beyond the above. There is are 3 difficulties: Story - you can’t die, but has no achievement score (for you Nellie haha) Normal - you can die and everything hits normally and has normal health Difficult - monsters have more health and damage and there are fewer campsites (rest “restore 15% life” or delete a card) Hope that helps some of you off the fence. @metalcasket there has only been 1 text error I’ve seen and it was a past tense error. Very minimal and I’ve seen FAR, FAR worsterer on some of these other games PBSNellie likes this. metalcasket Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze May 24, 2010 11,065 1,342 113 Deepest Circle, Hel #13 metalcasket, Mar 21, 2021 Worcestershire? You unlock someone later that can “imbue” your Enchantment cards to make them PERMANENT so you don’t have to cast it anymore. Amazing addition to the genre and pretty fun potential as there are quite a few enchantments in the game that I’ve seen so far. Will keep adding updates if I can beat it Wanderlost Interactive Member Mar 17, 2021 16 16 3 Gamedesigner the Netherlands https://www.wanderlost.games #15 Wanderlost Interactive, Mar 22, 2021 Hey all, the dev of Dawncaster here. Still have yet to beat it though lol got the farthest with the warrior. Got to the 3 portal fights and got Silver Splattered by the first boss there. Was a hell of a run though! I thoroughly enjoy the game but will say a couple/few coins for refusing one of the 3 card choices after a win would be nice no more than 5, maybe even 3 I think or then the game economy might be off with over healing at the inn or not having to make the choice of “do I imbue or buy this card” later in the game. Idk just a thought.
