Turning off mobile data use for this app in the settings app does make it so you only have to disable wifi before you open this app. This app does a check for wifi upon opening only. I really wish iOS would allow disabling wifi for any apps as well. But it’s poor form that the ad (at least currently) can’t be exited. That’s going to turn some people off as the game is totally unplayable with that in the way. Hopefully there’s at least an update to address that. Also, there’s definitely bugs. Some times now if I do “look around” the view just immediately scrolls really fast to the right without me pressing anything. Nothing too major though. Honestly the navigation is very hard between menu. And it's true that it's rather hard to control it without keyboard. And event with keyboard you've to learn how to play before you actually got playing. I would recommend playing with the game on a computer first, to make yourself familiar with controls, menus and ways to make fun. And then you can switch to mobile. With the latest version the mobile experience is way way better than it was in the beginning, where only 3 buttons and a gamepad were available. It's still a wrapper around the original game, meaning there's no feedback to the mobile UI from the very game engine, thus the menus are static, for example. And that would stay this way for a long time, because to make even the most frequently used things more interactive would require tons of time. Looks like it's a bug in translation: it's a "L..." button where TAB is supposed to be, so things go bad. I'll go and fix it now and release ASAP. I can recommend trying three last option when creating new game to skip all the character generation stuff and proceed right to actual game. This way the amount of decisions you've to make blindly are minimised and you can just try the game and have fun instead of guessing how to generate your character. Later on, when you'll be familiar with the game process, after 2-10 deaths of course, you can revisit character generation and make one you want, knowing more or less how your choices influence game experience.
