That looks interesting, but why it’s released at the year’s end? Ijipop Well-Known Member Jul 25, 2012 557 268 63 #3 Ijipop, Jan 6, 2021 Still on the fence. Anyone tried it?!? Moshfosh Well-Known Member Jun 1, 2013 97 21 8 #4 Moshfosh, Jan 7, 2021 This looks interesting. The price is definitely wrong though, it shows up as $6 in the store. I’ll be the one to bite the bullet and see if it’s any good Ijipop, sabs and MellySmellyBelly like this. Moshfosh Well-Known Member Jun 1, 2013 97 21 8 #5 Moshfosh, Jan 8, 2021 Alright guys I’ve spent a few hours with it and got some initial impressions. It’s got a lot of nostalgic charm going for it and I’ll admit that influences my review. The closest game that feels like this is the old school harvest moon games and the kairosoft games had a baby, but I’m sure there’s something far more accurate. There are two characters (with 3 or 4 others blacked out, dunno if it’s a progression unlock or a future update one, probably the former) and I’ve one played one character so I’ll assume the gameplay isn’t dramatically different with the others. The gist is your character is tasked with reviving a dilapidated kingdom. You find townsfolk to join your city, give them jobs, collect their taxes and goods and craft and upgrade your city accordingly. You can make allies of neighbors and I assume eventually there’s a war aspect because from the get go they say the kingdom is at war and your city was destroyed by invaders. pros: The soundtrack and graphics are the best thing it’s got going for it. I’m definitely a sucker for the 16bit vibes and I for sure feel like I’m playing on my SNES back in 1995. the storyline isn’t half bad so far. It’s definitely a kind of derivative fire emblem storyline the gameplay is also pretty deep so far for what I assume is a one man development. There are maybe 40-50 different jobs and subjobs for your citizens and so far I’ve unlocked maybe 2 of them that weren’t initial cons: I speak semi-fluent Japanese so the language problem isn’t too bad for me, but the localization is not the best. It’s definitely not the worst I’ve ever played but it could definitely be better. Mostly Japanese to English grammar errors ala “your base are belong to us.” it’s not optimized for newer phones so there’s that dead space at the edges which is always annoying. overall: so far I give it a 3.5/5 and I’d lean towards saying if you’re on the edge go for it to support an indie dev who clearly put a lot of love in his game Ijipop and Makara Nou like this.
