I took a look at the Devs other games & I saw (from my view) some really unique and innovative ideas. The guy really is passionate about his games and it shows. I visited his website & found a very humble dude who I straight away found admiration & respect for. Then I got the game. Turns out it is really good. When going through the tutorials, I was getting worried that things were going to be a lot more complicated than I first thought. After a game or two everything falls into place & you start sailing & trying to catch enough fish to unlock new cards from the store. I agree with vectorarchitekt’s post above about the sailing events. Seems you can remove them immediately with coins, or you can choose to sail through them taking a big risk on getting a good or bad outcome. And also when you’re choosing to sail through them, you can spend coins on the compass NSEW to reveal the outcome of a direction. At the moment (to me) it feels like taking a chance in sailing the seas is certain death which equates to frustration. I’m hoping that I just don’t understand something properly yet, because otherwise, every other aspect of the game is great & the price is just ridiculous cheap. nickhoola and vectorarchitekt like this. Son of Anarchy Well-Known Member Oct 5, 2015 717 130 43 Male Shadow Runner Australia #9 Son of Anarchy, Dec 15, 2020 I just wanted to come back and update my thoughts on the game, just in case anything I’d said previously had turned people off. After playing a lot more, the game has revealed more of its inner workings and it isn’t as punishing as I first thought at all. If you were still trying to narrow down the gameplay, I’d say it’s closest relative would be Card Crawl, or at least in the same ballpark. There’s an in-game shop that sells cards, they come in four different categories & you buy them with the fish you catch each run. In the early game you have none of these unlocked, and you’re still trying to figure out how everything works. At first I thought the game balance was off but it wasn’t, I just needed to buy a few of the right cards asap. A tip if you buy the game and run into the same problem I did: unlock the first 2 or 3 ‘item’ cards before you focus on the other categories. After that I wasn’t focused on one particular element of the game and could just chill and enjoy catching fish and drink rum and tap me wooden leg to the beat. vectorarchitekt likes this. vectorarchitekt Well-Known Member Dec 29, 2013 2,489 177 63 #10 vectorarchitekt, Dec 15, 2020 To your point, I’ve noticed there’s a definite grind to unlock the cards you need to progress. But it’s addicting. I’ll be sad once I unlock them all. I’m curious to see what the last set of cards do, as there are no descriptions. But it’s another great solitaire card game, which mobile is perfect for. Son of Anarchy likes this. Son of Anarchy Well-Known Member Oct 5, 2015 717 130 43 Male Shadow Runner Australia #11 Son of Anarchy, Dec 16, 2020 Yeah there is a bit of grinding, but like you said it’s very addictive. When I got strong enough to sail to the third island I just stayed there for ages. I wasn’t really grinding, it was more like perfecting the island if that makes sense. I could barely catch a fish when I first arrived, but by the time I left I could clear the board without losing 1 hp. It may not be as deep as other similar games but it definitely fun & addictive, I really like the theme & atmosphere too. I think the descriptions for the last set of cards in the shop are right at the back of the ‘Seabook’. Also, you probably already know this but I didn’t realise for ages; if you completely clear one of the stacks on the board, you can then take the top card from anywhere and put it on the empty space. Once I realised that the whole game changed. I did discover the movement of a card to an empty space. It really helps when you don’t like any of the options at the top of the stacks...I have been starting from the first island every time to grab 100-200 fish per turn. I just discovered that you can only put 9 extra cards in your deck. At first I thought you could just keep adding. So that will be interesting to develop a deck. And the random mode will l provide some replay value. I love games like this on mobile. I wish there were more of them. I’m always looking for solitaire strategy type games with original concepts. I take courage (but I'm little embarrassed) so I am writing this to thank everyone who bought the game, supporting my project. I'm very happy someone likes it and if there will be some suggestions, I'm glad to know about. Everything in the game is made by me, from art to code and music.
