It has a lot of personality, while partially taking battle system from Slay the spire. L.Lawliet Well-Known Member Jun 28, 2011 6,405 420 83 #8 L.Lawliet, Dec 10, 2020 Looks incredible. Looking it up the game isn't that long but hopefully it will last me a while. yankeeblue000 Well-Known Member Aug 29, 2016 644 36 28 #9 yankeeblue000, Dec 10, 2020 Nice surprise! This game is a fairly linear RPG with upgrades and hidden items, etc. I think it took over 30 hours to beat on my switch so it’s a solid game. No slay the spire type rerun stuff. You play through the story and when you beat it there’s even NGP to restart your game with certain carryover things (not going to spoil that part) there’s also a late game “arena” that can drive you a little insane in a good way. Different character and different builds are required throughout the game based on the enemies you’re facing. Not always necessary but does make it a lot easier to traverse in some levels. All in all fantastic game and glad to see the port!! Enjoy! Nothing bad to say about the game or port itself...it’s a flawless port and super, SUPER engaging so far...BUT...it serves as a reminder of how garbage a port of Slay the Spire we got. There. I said it. sebgo, Makara Nou, L.Lawliet and 1 other person like this. L.Lawliet Well-Known Member Jun 28, 2011 6,405 420 83 #15 L.Lawliet, Dec 11, 2020 Sadly I'm in complete agreement. I posted my grievances on that game in its thread but it makes me so sad that they just made the port and called it a day. There are tons of fixes and improvements needed, especially the game UI. I ended up just giving up on the game. There's only 2 updates it got right when it released and they were minimal bug fixes. I'm sure they are working on other stuff unrelated to mobile but what could be more important than fixing the game that just released on mobile? Or if it's outsourced they're not bothering to pay for it to be fixed. This game already looks much better... L.Lawliet Well-Known Member Jun 28, 2011 6,405 420 83 #16 L.Lawliet, Dec 11, 2020 I played for about 10 minutes and I'm already extremely impressed. The UI is way better than sts which has a very similar interface. The interface could be smoother but it's 90% amazing. I wish you could move down cards to put them back into the deck while viewing them, and when you drag the card to an enemy it has to be right on their upper body or the card will deselect. Notfm has my vote for best / smoothest card interface. That's kind of my standard for having ana amazing mobile interface for card games. Makara Nou likes this. Talbs Well-Known Member May 1, 2011 2,616 377 83 #17 Talbs, Dec 11, 2020 Before anyone gets the wrong impression though, this game is only like StS and the now mentioned Notfm in so far as it’s a card game. Just sayin’. Those are all just grievances against the inplementation of StS on mobile, not necessarily a representation of the gameplay in steamworld quest. SQ is a very decent campaign based card battle game. squarezero Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Dec 10, 2008 13,715 1,240 113 Male Chief Strategy Officer Salem, Massachusetts, USA #18 squarezero, Dec 11, 2020 Frankly, I much prefer this approach to card games . L.Lawliet Well-Known Member Jun 28, 2011 6,405 420 83 #19 L.Lawliet, Dec 11, 2020 Slay the Spire and Night of the Full Moon both don't have great battle animations like this game does. Neither are true story campaigns either though Night of the Full Moon has some overarching story every time you beat it with different characters and difficulties and bosses. This company has done a phenomenal job with mobile ports if Steamworld Heist is anything to go by, that game is exceptionally good and fits mobile perfectly. brerlappin Well-Known Member Feb 10, 2009 722 30 28 #20 brerlappin, Dec 11, 2020 Steamworld Quest looks great and I look forward to trying it! My only gripe with Steamworld Heist is that they never brought the Outsider DLC to iOS. If they ever have DLC for Quest, I hope iOS gets it as well. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
