It resembles Stardew Valley and Terraria somewhat in that it has crafting and building in it but the gameplay is different. Your character starts on a single island with only a pickaxe at first, gains experience by harvesting stuff and unlocks technologies by levelling up. The techs are game changing, they allow to build new items and buildings and unlocks new resources. Forager does not try to look realistic, plants and ore spawn back pretty quickly around you. When you get money you can start buying new islands, they just appear on the screen when they’re bought. Islands are all unique and span 4 or 5 biomes. It has lots of achievements too. I can’t say much about the port yet, instabought the game when I saw it was available. PC version has controller support though. For half the price I’d say it’s still worth it, it’s a well polished game. bx59 likes this. ste86uk Well-Known Member May 9, 2012 6,774 1,003 113 #7 ste86uk, Nov 7, 2020 @triwolf thank you, I did take a peak at some reviews too after posting as I remember really wanting this game but couldn’t remember why. The reviews and video helped me remember and your post helped too so even though this is probably the most expensive iOS week ever for me I bought it. bx59 Well-Known Member Dec 2, 2016 238 116 43 #8 bx59, Nov 7, 2020 Last edited: Nov 13, 2020 I was looking forward to this release, but I made the mistake (purchasing a game which doesn't have the cloud saves) with Slay the Spire once, not willing to do it again. Humble needs to learn that including cloud saves at launch is an important feature for iOS imho. Edit: I've been misinformed since it actually does have cloud saves, apologies. Numba One Well-Known Member Jun 14, 2012 47 10 8 #9 Numba One, Nov 7, 2020 Alright thx for confirming. No controller support is bigger bummer for me but still going to buy this one as I've heard good things. anthony78 Well-Known Member Nov 13, 2015 3,128 704 113 #10 anthony78, Nov 7, 2020 I played this on GamePass and it just wasn’t for me. Then again, crafting games usually aren’t. Awesome to have it out on iOS though! Numba One Well-Known Member Jun 14, 2012 47 10 8 #11 Numba One, Nov 7, 2020 Actually it DOES support controllers! Whooo! You just have to enable it in the options menu (see screenshot below). I’m using Xbox One controller on iPad (2019). Seems like one of those games that are great to play with a vid or podcast in the background & relax. Only gripe is I wish the text in the menu + forges was a bit bigger, but it’s certainly no deal breaker. Def worth the $$ imo Lull4by Well-Known Member Aug 21, 2014 767 313 63 #13 Lull4by, Nov 7, 2020 Not out in my country's appstore, which is sad since I want to play this game with my ipad for a long time. macplash Well-Known Member Apr 17, 2014 2,645 1,103 113 Male 3D artist Munich, Germany #14 macplash, Nov 7, 2020 I like Minecraft a lot. Craft the World. Crafting and building in general. I got more than thousand hours in Stardew Valley across all the platforms imaginable over the years and I finally forced myself to give Terraria a proper chance too lately (took me like 60 hours to get to that Wall of Flesh boss that I couldn’t beat and gave up eventually right before reaching Hardmode), but I’ve never heard of Forager before. Although from what I’ve seen so far it’s a no-brainer. Just saying. Insta-bought! The game made me think of Crashlands last night when I got it, I though well I loved Crashlands I’ll like this one for sure. macplash Well-Known Member Apr 17, 2014 2,645 1,103 113 Male 3D artist Munich, Germany #17 macplash, Nov 7, 2020 I’m new to this. Do I sleep somehow to replenish my health (or stamina - whatever the green bar stands for) or do I have to eat constantly? I’m getting hungry awfully fast. I caught some fish and baked them, but it seems like very short term solution. @jdjleo I’ll compare it to Crashlands later when I play more although Crashlands for me is action packed hack ‘n slash more than crafting and whatnot. But we’ll see. I’m hoping for some more relaxing experience with Forager. Like Stardew Valley where fighting is optional. And I’m eating a lot of fish, so it’s not that terrible. With another skill that increases my damage I’m wasting less energy on cutting trees or mining ores. I do have a few issues though. I don’t know if the devs are here on the forums but if so, I’d appreciate some tweaking. 1. I’d like more control options. Like tap to move? In comparison to endless possibilities in Stardew Valley here I’m just stuck with default one. 2. All the items I’m collecting are displayed in lower left corner right under my thumb. So I can’t see that notification most of the time. 3. I’d like to have option to increase size of toolbar. It’s rather small atm, especially on iPad. So when I need to quickly switch from pickaxe to sword, I’m having difficulty to do so. I don’t understand why it’s so much smaller in comparison to action or use buttons on the right (see attached image below) 4. Once in the menu during the gameplay I can navigate between skills and building and whatnot but once I reach options there’s no going back, only to tap X and close the menu. 5. Some texts are cut off in the menu, like description for some skills (see attached image below again - I have no idea who I’m dealing the increased damage to) 6. When in crafting menu (like with Furnace or Sewing machine open) the game’s not paused so I’m getting sneaked upon by enemies. Is this by design? Does it work the same way on other platforms? If so it’ll take some getting used to for sure. And eventually, would it be possible to choose an option to pause the game then? Otherwise I’m having a blast so far. Beautiful game, worth every cent! Highly recommended. EDIT: I unlocked my first achievement (so there are Game Center achievements? How do I access them?) and I wanted to say I’m loving EXTRAS section with first story behind making the game and everything. It was very emotional and touching and I’m glad I purchased the game and could support and reward HopFrog this way for his hard work and dedication. Thanks for sharing the story. In fact, that was one of my first thoughts after I played for a bit lol. My setup is: -10+ Fish Traps constantly catching fish -The skill “Fishing”, which catches fish 50% faster -The item that automatically collects fish from the traps (Unlock the island to the right, then open the chest with a key) Haven’t had any trouble with hunger with this setup, def worth the trouble to get it up and running. macplash likes this.
