While the controls aren't quite as responsive as I'd like (which can be problematic pretty much only when trying to get the speedrun badge for each level), everything else is ticking boxes. Instead of bite-sized mobile-esque levels, the game's levels are big enough to be annoying to traverse once you lose all of your hearts (and you will...over and over again) featuring heaps of hidden coins, rooms and ice pops, so yeah...an explorer's dream. Oh, and the pacifist badge in every level is probably my favorite thing about the game and is pretty much a separate mode on its own. Don't be fooled by the simplicity...this is probably one of the most feature packed platformers on iOS. Love it and super, super easy to recommend! Anotherkellydown likes this. The controls work well for me so far. No issues there. I was really happy to unlock the Gameboy color scheme - looks great. Just wondering why there are achievements but no speed run leaderboards. Seems like that would be a given. First impressions are very good here. Not that I’m afraid of a little challenge, but for whatever reason those frantic chases by the bosses kept me hesitant. Anyway, since it’s a GOTW I just have to buy it, right? ColeDaddy likes this. Probably not. I am at World 1 Level 4 at the moment haha. Already lost all my hearts twice. Love that I get ammo by jumping on heads of the enemies. Genius mechanic. Dont know what ice cream bars do yet. I have the game boy palette unlocked now. This game has Nokia 3310 era graphics and I love it. Only wish there was a way to turn off the haptic feedback as I feel its an unnecessary battery drainer. Still, I recommend this game. ColeDaddy likes this. More to come very soon! and yes, Pixboy is awesome. Loving the simplicity of the 1-bit graphics, palette options and monophonic sounds. Captures that charming nostalgic feel that I look for in other games. Even the basic story captures the minimalist storytelling of most nokia and java games from decades past. Had made a few bad purchases in mobile games these past few weeks but didn't regret this one. aussiepaul likes this. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
