Seemed rather good; probably a good fit on touch screen. ste86uk Well-Known Member May 9, 2012 6,774 1,003 113 #4 ste86uk, Oct 21, 2020 I don’t know anything about the game but it sounds interesting. Sure, the controls (both movement and camera) could use some major overhauling (perhaps the way Playdead utilizes swipe-based controls for their iOS ports and maybe just swiping up/down or tapping in the upper right corner to swap between the 3 levels of camera zoom), but the gameplay is so wonderful, I can’t help but smile whenever playing this. It contains aspects of that genre of games, but in an extremely basic fashion, and there's not really a sense of urgency. Taking too long to fix your clunky-ass vehicle will likely cause it to explode, but we're talking about a game that is supposed to be super lax and meditative. This is basically a variant of the LIMBO/INSIDE formula, where it's a left-to-right side-scrolling platformer with light puzzle mechanics. The difference is that in FAR, you're not controlling your char--ugh, I mean...in addition to controlling your character, you're controlling the aforementioned vehicle. EDIT: Having just finished the game, my comments above still stand. It's a beautiful game that I can confidently say everyone should try at least once. As a mobile port...it's a mobile port. It doesn't feel native to the platform and the Playdead games really do stand leaps and bounds above it (again, in terms of it being a port) because there's always some sort of battle between yourself and the controls. Again, that doesn't take away from what is otherwise an INCREDIBLE experience. One thing I didn't mention before though is the darkness. There are a few moments where you're basically playing in pitch black darkness, and to make matters worse, there's at least one instance of a puzzle occurring in said darkness. Nothing short of reworking the entire game will fix this and thankfully not too much of the game happens at night, but it's something that needs to be brought up. PraetorianX likes this. I would love controller support, or at least a floating joystick for the left right movement I’m constantly missing the icons and that makes it frustrating also the lack of tips is nice but I can’t seem to figure out if you can just keep loading the fuel or if it’s all wasted once the tank is full, and I’m just throwing junk in there for no reason. My main issue with it at the moment is that I’ve no idea when and where it saves - I’ve not seen any kind of visible checkpoints (or logically placed ones). On my first play I’d got to the vehicle and started it up (which I’d thought would be a checkpoint), but when I went into it again I was right at the beginning... the next time I picked it up, I played a bit more and when I went back to it it seemed to have saved just before I’d left it. metalwastebasket Well-Known Member Jan 5, 2017 161 55 28 #16 metalwastebasket, Oct 28, 2020 You'll notice a small spinning circle in the top right corner when it saves, but if you'd like to know when the game last saved, it takes nothing more than heading into the pause menu. Bottom right corner has the time of your last save. #Bonk3rZ likes this. Ghostdog1 Well-Known Member Jan 30, 2015 319 125 43 #17 Ghostdog1, Oct 30, 2020 This game is pure magic. I love it. For me it had the right length and very good puzzle mechanics. Although you get thrown into this world without much context, i loved the atmosphere and the story. I was also a big fan of the ending. It plays very smooth with a controller. I wish they would make a sequel. Son of Anarchy likes this. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
