Not too many premium match-3s. Might be something to hold over until Hero Emblems 2 comes. Would love to hear some impressions! TheSilveryWolf and ShinHadoukin like this. ShinHadoukin Well-Known Member Feb 20, 2015 972 143 43 #4 ShinHadoukin, Sep 29, 2020 The writing is difficult to read. The matching is a little plain, which isn’t terrible in my opinion but the story fits having a little more matching affects. anthony78 Well-Known Member Nov 13, 2015 3,128 704 113 #5 anthony78, Sep 29, 2020 I like this so far. Seems basic at first but more mechanics are explained as you go along. Two complaints though. It doesn’t seem to save so you start all over again when re-launching or if you go to the town (not sure if the latter is intentional). The second is that the enemies start out way to hard. I’ve gotten past a few but seems like it could have ramped up the difficulty rather than start with monsters with huge amounts of HP. Last I checked they’d been silent for a loooooong time sadly. On this actual game though is it just matching frantically every available or is there actual strategy on building combos etc.. It feels like it’s made by someone who wanted to combine the mechanics of a match-3, and the best features of Dungeon Raid and a game like Slay the Spire, but lacked the technical understanding/experience of what made those games so great. There isn’t one major thing bringing down the experience, but lots of little ones. - The first is easiest to fix - text is barely readable. It’s just far too small. - Then there’s the lack of any useful tutorials. - The amounts of resources you get are just straight up weird. Four or five runs in I had 1 million gold; each run was netting me thousands of each resource and upgrade costs are in the tens of thousands. The ratio of what I get to what upgrades cost is absolutely fine... but why does an upgrade cost 12 thousand grapes? It honestly feels like the numbers are scaled to a free to play or an idle game. - Events feel like they have no consequence. Any “punishment” or sacrifice I’ve seen so far is taking away one of my power bricks at random, but honestly - I couldn’t care less about them anyway. - Upgrades are not exciting. At all. You can upgrade each brick colour individually to give you 12 shield instead of 11, for example, which makes a HUGE difference in how far you get in each run, but it feels so un-exciting to do each upgrade. They don’t change the gameplay at all, you just get further on your next run. The game’s biggest saving grace is that the mechanics are actually pretty solid. The matching is mostly just frantic, but with some strategy. Matching 4+ bricks upgrades one of the bricks by a level and randomly drops it at the top of the board. If those bricks included a power brick already, that brick gets leveled up again, with each level being worth more. It leads to a little bit of strategy without feeling too complicated to be fun. Overall the game IS fun, the core is solid, it just needs a whole lot more time and polish. anthony78 Well-Known Member Nov 13, 2015 3,128 704 113 #8 anthony78, Oct 1, 2020 Biggest complaint for me is that there also seems to be no way to save at all. You’re given a StS style map for a particular region and you could get 6 stages through and want to come back later. But if you close the game or exit to the menu, all your progress is gone. And you have to start the map all over again. Very annoying for a mobile game. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
