I don’t know if I understand what you mean by “sports game”. It’s a shooter like any other mech game. There’s no formal campaign but tournaments just like the old Unreal Tournament games. And is it controller supported if anyone knows? Alex DeLargest Well-Known Member Dec 16, 2010 346 122 43 Male USA/France #11 Alex DeLargest, Aug 6, 2020 Any impressions on this? I’m not concerned about the longevity of the online because I’d probably play local bots mostly anyways, but how does it play, how’s the depth, etc. Atypical has a history of making gorgeous games that control well but the depth is always lacking imo. I’m a huge fan of mech simulation and combat games so I’m about to pull the trigger regardless. Hell, I used to play War Robots before it got really over the top with the pay to win. Alex DeLargest Well-Known Member Dec 16, 2010 346 122 43 Male USA/France #12 Alex DeLargest, Aug 6, 2020 Was watching some YouTube impressions on this and yes, it does have controller support. Alex DeLargest Well-Known Member Dec 16, 2010 346 122 43 Male USA/France #16 Alex DeLargest, Aug 7, 2020 It looks shiny and seems to play well, but it also just looks kinda sterile and shallow, much like Atypical’s flight ‘sims.’ I’ll probably hit buy anyways because I love mechs and have little self-discipline. Maybe ill push buy after a while.... War Robots turned into an iAP farm so now I need something to scratch that itch. skoptic Well-Known Member Apr 3, 2015 634 82 28 #18 skoptic, Aug 7, 2020 Yeah - so its fairly shallow and sterile, but with a controller this gave me more fun last night for £5 than the lunch I bought my kids that cost more, they didn’t eat and then asked for ice cream instead Worth a punt if £5 is (relatively) throwaway.... probably not if not Collin Well-Known Member Jul 29, 2010 719 46 28 Graphic Designer/Illustrator/Art Director Colorado Springs, CO https://www.theislandsofmisfitcreativity.com/ #19 Collin, Aug 7, 2020 Last edited: Aug 7, 2020 Is this anything like the old Xbox game "Phantom Crash"? Played a couple battles. Kinda fun. Seems really shallow. Like, even more so than Atypical’s tank or plane games. Single player is just a series of skirmishes. Wins and medals (like kill streaks and best score in the match) earn xp and coins. Coins buy upgrades from five categories, levels unlock new mechs. This is all very linear. Not sure what unlocks alternate paint schemes. No custom paint from what I can tell. Photo mode doesn’t let you zoom in, pose or place the mechs into the environments. Not much destruction. Tree, cars, and some wood barriers are all I’ve really noticed. I don’t think you can customize the on-screen buttons which sucks because they are very small on iPhone. Only played one MP game and the matchmaking was atrocious. The other team was higher level with better mechs and upgrades and had one or two more players at game start. Not sorry that I bought it, but it is about exactly what I expected. Decent fun, kinda pretty, really shallow. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
