We really didn’t want him to just shoot them. As this would have just made it to easy. So we came up with a throwing mechanic. This makes it quite difficult but playable. If the zombie is far away then it’s hard to hit. As they are always moving towards Rex and Rex is moving forward. So it easy to miss them. But as the zombie gets closer they are easier to hit. Unfortunately you need to shoot fast as they speed up the closer they are. Tricky but playable and challenging. Especially as you have limited weapons to fire so don’t waste them. Others will follow. nicklnz Member Jun 17, 2020 9 0 1 https://www.weareidle.co #5 nicklnz, Jul 19, 2020 One of things we wanted to do to make game play a bit more interesting was to allow Rocket Rex to sometime sneak past the zombies. Unfortunately you need to be a bit carefully as they will turn around and catch Rex from behind. Not a nice thing to happen. So we also implemented barriers. If a zombie hits a barrier they are blocked from moving forward so they turn around. This means you can use barriers to your advantage. Just don’t zombies catch you from behind. It doesn’t end well. nicklnz Member Jun 17, 2020 9 0 1 https://www.weareidle.co #6 nicklnz, Jul 22, 2020 We thought that just running and shooting zombies would be a bit so so. This is why we added exploding barrels, and crates. Rocket Rex can push these out of the way. Which causes them to push forward and up, and then explode. Which of course damages zombies. While also depending on the type of barrel and crate rewards Rocket Rex with bonus points, coins and gems. We this is a nice feature that creates dynamic explosions and game play. nicklnz Member Jun 17, 2020 9 0 1 https://www.weareidle.co #7 nicklnz, Jul 23, 2020 When you play Rocket Rex you see that the stages have location names. These are all relevant to zombies, can anyone work out the connections. nicklnz Member Jun 17, 2020 9 0 1 https://www.weareidle.co #8 nicklnz, Jul 29, 2020 With the final stage we wanted to do something a bit different from side scrolling. So we have introduced a platform idea where Rocket Rex has to navigate through a platform of scaffolding and pipes to complete each day. We thought this was a nice idea an a natural extensions of the more simple sideways scrolling. What happened to the global release? It’s been 2 weeks since your game released in limited regions. nicklnz Member Jun 17, 2020 9 0 1 https://www.weareidle.co #10 nicklnz, Jul 29, 2020 Thanks for this we have rolled out to most English speaking countries now. Which country are you in ? We are just conscious that we have not done any localisation for non English speaking countries. Jstorm Well-Known Member Feb 2, 2020 1,082 474 83 Male Employed Earth #11 Jstorm, Jul 29, 2020 Tbh , You don’t really need to do any localization. Just releasing the English version globally will do. nicklnz Member Jun 17, 2020 9 0 1 https://www.weareidle.co #12 nicklnz, Aug 17, 2020 Ok, we've gone global launch.
