I love the format also with the levels and stars, changing mechanics and goals and unlocks to earn. I also love that apart from the odd timed level there’s no really strict timer I can just play and enjoy. Even though this is the game that was going to lead to the demise of Radiangames, it was always my favorite game Luke game...and still is. I don’t know how much the freemium version cost to go premium back in the day, but I recall something like 7 or 11 dollars. I gladly forked that over. I also bought the SE. Did I think I was going to buy this? Absolutely not. Not because I’d bought it twice before, but people’s interests change, and I haven’t bothered with physics puzzlers in at least half a decade. That said, part of me thought it would be crazy not to at least buy this even if I never fired it up. Fire it up I did, and I’ve 3-starred the first 30 levels with no intention of ever stopping. >_> Bombcats has stood the test of time and feels as fresh and revolutionary as it did almost a decade ago. As long as Luke keeps updating it, it’ll have a place on my phone. Sure, it costs money, but if it weren't for the Chillingo problem, this would have been a free update. That said, the cost of buying more attempts has been drastically reduced. aussiepaul, ROGER-NL and ste86uk like this. ste86uk Well-Known Member May 9, 2012 6,774 1,003 113 #10 ste86uk, May 15, 2020 @metalcasket I don’t know much about the game really but if they reduced the cost massively surely they could have just removed it easily enough? THE NETHERLANDS #11 ROGER-NL, May 15, 2020 I played this game in 2013 on an Ipod Touch, but now I’m playing on my big Ipad Pro and the game comes realy to life now, it realy is that good that it will be in the top of games for me this year, love it. metalcasket Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze May 24, 2010 11,065 1,342 113 Deepest Circle, Hel #12 metalcasket, May 15, 2020 I know nothing about game development so I can't say anything concrete, but I assume it would've just been easier to lower costs than remove an entire concept from the game. Plus, that would eliminate the need for the whole slots mechanic to win gems and whatnot and presumably steamroll into more work that's probably not worth it. Remember, as great as this game is/was it didn't do well. Perhaps with Radiangames' presence on Apple Arcade that could change things, but I highly doubt this latest release is going to be a massive success either. EDIT: Don't have my phone on me, so I can't check for sure, but can't you replay levels to earn gems? ste86uk Well-Known Member May 9, 2012 6,774 1,003 113 #13 ste86uk, May 15, 2020 @metalcasket I do love some speed demons so hopefully they will pop by here too. Looks like you can replay levels you beat to earn more so it shouldn’t be a massive problem or anything but it was just something unexpected on a game I paid for. Although depending how hard levels get you may need those retries lots of times later on? Plus playing a level simply for gems isn’t really fun it’s a waste of time. metalcasket Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze May 24, 2010 11,065 1,342 113 Deepest Circle, Hel #14 metalcasket, May 15, 2020 There really shouldn't be the need to replay levels because the rate of income is incredibly well balanced. I understand where you're coming from, but just try to ignore that it's there at all. As someone who has played this since it was a F2P title I can tell you it shouldn't be a factor. It wasn't back then and it shouldn't be now. I know you trust me and believe me, I'd do you no wrong.
