All movement is 100% controlled by a physics system meaning each shot is based on your skill and your skill alone. Super fast gameplay means average game length is less than 15 minutes. Touchbacks, Safeties, Touchdowns, Field Goals, Extra Points, 2 Point Conversions, it's all in the game. ■ 1 Player versus AI Dynamic AI driven solely by the physics system means no two games are ever the same vs the CPU. 3 difficulty levels to choose from. ■ Local 2 Player versus Innovative two player mechanic where each player sits across from one another and takes turns attempting to score. Think "old school arcade". Great on larger screens like tablets. ■ Tournament Mode Supports 1-6 human players. Single elimination bracket, progress can be saved and resumed. ■ 3 Unique Challenges with Score tracking. - Shred the Defense: A progressively more challenging based game where you must fling the football towards a receiver located on the field. Defenders will move randomly across the field and block the balls path. You have 8 seconds per turn. 4 downs per score. - Two Minute Drill: Score as many touchdowns as possible within two minutes. Each score will move the ball further away from the goal. - Field Goal Frenzy: Score as many field goals as possible without missing. ■ Customizable Controls Customize the pointer offset and ball impact force within the settings menu to suit it perfectly to your device. ■ "8 bit" retro style art and sound. ■ Customizable Graphics Options - 3 Total Themes - 8 Total Fields - 26 Different Ball Designs - 6 Player Color Choices Information Seller:Brandon Thacker Genre:Board, Sports Release:Apr 04, 2020 Updated:Jan 27, 2021 Version:2.20 Size:56.5 MB TouchArcade Rating:Unrated User Rating:Unrated Your Rating:unrated Compatibility:HD Universal https://apps.apple.com/app/id1495268406 Grist Well-Known Member Nov 7, 2008 362 25 28 VP of Marketing Massachusetts #2 Grist, Apr 11, 2020 I gambled $1.99 and won. This is a cleverly designed version of a simple game I used to play many (many many) years ago in elementary school on cafeteria tables, when we used a comb (yes, once upon a time kids carried combs to school) to represent the football. It was fun then, and is fun now thanks to this unique iOS game. As the developer mentions in his description, this is all about the player's skill in judging the force of flicks, realistic physics, and an AI opponent that misses often enough to give the human a chance to win. Very imaginative and enjoyable on both my iPad and iPhone. Brandon L Thacker and anthony78 like this. BThacker Member Apr 11, 2020 7 4 3 Male #3 BThacker, Apr 11, 2020 Developer here! Grist, I can't really express how happy I am to hear people are getting the idea behind the game and enjoying something I've built. This is my first jump into game development and I honestly didn't know what to expect and once again am so happy that so far the reviews and reception has been stellar. (I didn't even know TouchArcade existed until today and someone sent me a link to this thread). I wanted to say thank you for dropping the store review as well, much appreciated. I noticed your comment about GameCenter; I think it's a good idea. I integrated Google Play Services on the Android version for score tracking on the challenge modes and I believe I could integrate game center in a similar fashion, maybe with lifetime stat tracking as well. I've been pushing patches daily to the game and added a smart camera mode today which should benefit those on smaller devices as it shifts the screen a bit on those tough shots near your goal line. For anyone that picks this up if you have a chance to play it on a tablet please do as the larger screen really makes it enjoyable but I tried to transfer that same experience to a smaller screen with the offset controls etc. Local multiplayer can be very fun on the same device. Also please be aware the Android version is steps behind due to Googles delay in approving builds vs iOS which I can update almost daily. Thanks again! Makara Nou likes this. Peter_Jeftic Active Member Apr 6, 2020 37 5 8 Male #4 Peter_Jeftic, Apr 11, 2020 What we do in that game?? BThacker Member Apr 11, 2020 7 4 3 Male #5 BThacker, Apr 11, 2020 So at a high level, the game is based on the rules of a table top game called paper football. In real life you basically fold a piece of paper into a triangle then take turns slapping it across the table until someone gets it to hang off the edge (not falling off) which counts as a touchdown. You then kick a field goal, etc. This is my arcade version take on it with much faster action combined with a retro feel to the graphics and sound. IMO even if you don't understand paper football the game is fun to play due to the fluidity of the physics system and skill shot style gameplay. If you decide to pick it up let me know what you think! Grist Well-Known Member Nov 7, 2008 362 25 28 VP of Marketing Massachusetts #6 Grist, Apr 11, 2020 This morning I tried the "league" mode for the first time, which displays a football instead of a paper triangle and shows the numbered hashmarks of a football field. Visuals and physics in this mode are really nice; I particularly like the way the football rotates as it moves down the field. Also enjoying the various "challenge" modes. Liked the game a lot when I played it initially last night and posted my first impressions at that time, and am loving it now. It's the perfect iOS game to play when you have a few minutes to fill between other activities. BThacker Member Apr 11, 2020 7 4 3 Male #7 BThacker, Apr 11, 2020 Yep, in league if you click on the ball itself you have 2 options for traditional, and 2 options for triangle. The physics are slightly different with the rounded ball as it becomes more of a challenge to hit it solid due to the curved nature. I tried to bring little differences to each of the themes. For instance on the retro theme when the ball falls off the table, it simply disappears into space. I am working with my sound engineer and going to add different gameplay music for each theme (or selectable) as well. I plan on pushing updates for at least a month before I start work on my next idea. The league theme with the college football happens to be my favorite way of playing. If you get a chance, mess around with the challenges as well. Shred the defense can get really crazy over 20 pts or so. BThacker Member Apr 11, 2020 7 4 3 Male #8 BThacker, Apr 15, 2020 Quick update! v1.55 is live on iOS. This update brings difficulty levels to the CPU (selectable after the coin toss), hard is particularly fun on higher scoring settings like 28-35. It's still having problems on PAT's and FG's but I have a solution that will make it into later versions. A new randomize kickoff feature that prevents you from getting too exact with the physics as the kickoff previously occurred in the same spot each time. Also some major improvements to the smart camera system which will shift the camera when backed into your own goal line but now also when the ball gets close to the sidelines which proved to be much harder shots especially on smaller devices. I also added a placeholder for a "tournament mode" in the main menu to advertise this mode is coming, and very soon. 1-6 players, AI or human. Also if anyone has gotten this far, does anyone have advice on how to get the word out about the game and how to get sites to pick this up to review? This is all new to me and I am a bit lost on things outside of building the game itself. Even with it set to “heavy”, I rarely get it far enough. Maybe I’m old and just can’t flick like I used to, lol. Brandon L Thacker New Member Apr 9, 2020 2 0 1 Male #10 Brandon L Thacker, Apr 15, 2020 I've been tracking an issue where the physics can react differently on certain hardware. Can you let me know which version and hardware? Also heavy actually makes the ball harder to hit. Did you try soft? Ball effort option means "how much effort do I need to hit the ball with" which in this case means you have to hit it harder with heavy to move it. Heavy is better for shorter distances whereas soft will move the ball farther with the same effort. I believe I need to clarify this more in the options. anthony78 Well-Known Member Nov 13, 2015 3,128 704 113 #11 anthony78, Apr 15, 2020 LOL. Thanks for the clarification! I’m on an iPhone X but “soft” does indeed work better. I was thinking soft meant it would not kick it as far. I’ll play some more but think I’m good now! BThacker Member Apr 11, 2020 7 4 3 Male #12 BThacker, Apr 15, 2020 It's not clear, I've marked it to change. Currently it says "ball impact" whereas before it said "Impact Effort Required" I will update it next version. Version 1.40+ also includes changes to make those settings have more of a change. Thanks for picking up the game and providing feedback. anthony78 likes this.
