Any multiplayer options? ste86uk Well-Known Member May 9, 2012 6,774 1,000 113 #3 ste86uk, Apr 1, 2020 I looked at the video and the app page and was watching it a little before release but I don’t get what the game is. Just like Yahtzee it looks to me? If so it seems expensive for that unless there’s more to it. bx59 Well-Known Member Dec 2, 2016 238 116 43 #4 bx59, Apr 1, 2020 I'm down for a premium, good looking & online multiplayer yahtzee too! (idk if that's it) chengchisang Well-Known Member May 25, 2018 119 31 28 #5 chengchisang, Apr 1, 2020 Too many good games for the moment...I would sit on the wall and see reports on gameplay and, of course, multiplayer (async or not). bx59 Well-Known Member Dec 2, 2016 238 116 43 #6 bx59, Apr 1, 2020 Shoot a mail to support, they say "Yes, you can go Campaign mode or versus AI in single player or play online multiplayer with players across platforms!". Not anything like Yahtzee (except maybe that both feature dice). Much better! Opportunities for much more skillful play. However, would rather play physical version with real people, so I think I’ll pass. bx59 likes this. bx59 Well-Known Member Dec 2, 2016 238 116 43 #11 bx59, Apr 1, 2020 Did you get the mobile version? If so, can you please clear the air about multiplayer aspect being async or live? Damn, really temped to buy it now since being physically close with real people is hard these days, you know.. skoptic Well-Known Member Apr 3, 2015 634 82 28 #12 skoptic, Apr 1, 2020 Multiplayer is async for matchmaking and play. It also has non async play mode too. It looks identical to other Dire Wold mp implementation. Lighter than their last 2 games, good dice drafting. Def not just Yahtzee - this is a well established board game so bgg and existing steam play vids on YouTube will give you good source of research. Dire Wolf & Acram are implementing better multiplayer than Asmodee theses days so very happy to support the, only bummer for me is that it is portrait only bx59 and chengchisang like this. bx59 Well-Known Member Dec 2, 2016 238 116 43 #13 bx59, Apr 1, 2020 Thank you for clearing the air, so it has both live & async multiplayer! Nice! Also I was sold on this being portrait mode... I never quite understood how multiplayer works in "Ascension" anyways, since you mentioned Asmodee. skoptic Well-Known Member Apr 3, 2015 634 82 28 #14 skoptic, Apr 1, 2020 Well, ascension was initially never Asmodee and then they took it over for publishing and reverse engineered in their account system. It’s a gold standard for card app design and multiplayer implementation (only Through the Ages is better) with a variety of options for MP turn time. It’s full async if you want, is there something specific you want to know? bx59 likes this. bx59 Well-Known Member Dec 2, 2016 238 116 43 #15 bx59, Apr 1, 2020 SO THAT'S THE TURN TIME. I was only going to ask that, and you kinda answered all my questions, many thanks. I kinda guessed that it would be the turn time, so I hope it also has some sort of notification system to warn me when I got closer to the end of my turn time. Through the Ages is still on my backlog of "games that I purchased but waiting till I get an iPad" haha. That's probably why the simplicity and portraitness of Sagrada appeals me! skoptic likes this. bx59 Well-Known Member Dec 2, 2016 238 116 43 #16 bx59, Apr 1, 2020 "Sagrada has pass-and-play, live, and asynchronous multiplayer!" @chengchisang from support. Sounds interesting and could be good if the multiplayer works well. Is it like hero academy and some word games use to be where you can start multiple games up and then it just shows you a list of games that you can now take your turn on again and a list of games still waiting for the other player? Edit: although a review for the iOS version says games only take about 10 minutes anyway. Works fine on phone, maybe a little small but good enough. It’s a brilliant game. Takes a fair bit of learning and mind bending to get the whole food, production and corruption thing but once you understand, it’s a brilliant game. Anyway, I digress. Just couldn’t help it. bx59 likes this. ShinHadoukin Well-Known Member Feb 20, 2015 970 141 43 #19 ShinHadoukin, Apr 2, 2020 I just started an online game. There is casual and live. I started a casual game and it said I will be notified when the game starts. My initial thought is that as async however, not 100% just yet. To those who prefer physical game, of course but touchscreens have proven awesome for board games. This app/game in particular is perfect as a digital game. This is a great example of a board game perfectly suited as a digital game being masterfully executed. chengchisang Well-Known Member May 25, 2018 119 31 28 #20 chengchisang, Apr 2, 2020 Launched a causal game and is having a blast. But the wait and launch process is a mess -- I get time out when waiting for people to join and have to create a game from time to time. I get app hang up when launching the online game, have to kill the app to proceed. The good thing is, there is an in-app feedback system I can report back. I think every app should have this feature.
