Gameplay? Asp Well-Known Member Aug 3, 2017 769 196 43 #3 Asp, Mar 20, 2020 It’s about collecting 28 paintings hidden in seasonal landscapes. Gameplay is point and click - combine objects to progress, plus some straightforward puzzles. What it’s really about though is the graphics. If you’ve ever tried this type of ink painting you’ll appreciate the brilliant artistry on display here. ste86uk and djstout like this. I am Martin Goldschmid, the creative director on the game, Mirages of Winter is an adventure game about the passing of winter to spring and the link between man and nature. It is available on iOS, for both iPhone and iPad. Mirages of Winter is a relaxing, story driven game. Its lore is deeply anchored in Asian philosophy, specifically The Way of the Tao and Zen. In a subtle way, the game puts us at the center of nature and all of our actions are in relation with the world. We hand painted all the visuals and it is a soothing game experience. We hope this game will bring some hope in the current climate Regarding game mechanics, it is a classic first person adventure game. We are fans of the Myst series, Fez, Dear Esther, Inside and Journey which had a great influence on our designs. It is a mix between poetic adventure, immersive exploration, soothing puzzles. Talking about the puzzles, everything in the game has a deep connection with the five elements : water, wood, fire, earth and metal. We created the "element mechanic", the idea is that you can bring out the elemental essence of objects and use them to solve puzzles. ste86uk, djstout and Brightsiderus like this. djstout Well-Known Member Jul 21, 2011 2,685 105 63 Sportscaster & football (soccer) coach Taiwan & Japan #5 djstout, Mar 20, 2020 Lovely, I’ll probably get it today. It’s all about d&d for me. With that said it is always note about the gameplay like Prune which I only just got as it went free and I didn’t think I’d like it when it was released but it’s turning out to be pretty good. Asp Well-Known Member Aug 3, 2017 769 196 43 #8 Asp, Mar 20, 2020 @Mirari Games, I presume the graphics were digitally hand painted, in which case I’d be interested to know which software was used, unless that is a trade secret. Mirari Games Member Jan 31, 2020 9 6 3 Male Making poetic games Paris https://www.mirarigames.com #9 Mirari Games, Mar 21, 2020 I never really thought about it but I guess It is a trade secret I understand completely ! I am a huge fan of 5th edition D&D myself, I dm from time to time. I learned a lot while DM'ing, specially on how to create a living world with many things that are interacting with each other and with the player. Of course Mirages of Winter is very different from a Forgotten Realms setting! Nevertheless our goal was to make an immersive world, such as one you find in a good campaign. And yes, Prune is amazing ste86uk likes this. metalcasket Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze May 24, 2010 11,065 1,342 113 Deepest Circle, Hel #10 metalcasket, Mar 21, 2020 @Mirari Games How long is an average playthrough, if you don't mind me asking? Mirari Games Member Jan 31, 2020 9 6 3 Male Making poetic games Paris https://www.mirarigames.com #11 Mirari Games, Mar 21, 2020 Hey! Not at all, The game takes about 2 to 3 hours, maybe more, depending on how fast you want to go. It is a soothing and contemplative game, so you can travel fast or take your time in the many sceneries in front of you, as there are a lot of hidden details to find. The world of Mirages is an archipelago that you will discover in the Mirages games to come, the islands have their own lore that are yet to discover. For that reason, it is interesting to play it a second time or more. Since it is a mysterious univers, as you uncover the island, the way you look at it will evolve. ste86uk likes this. metalcasket Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze May 24, 2010 11,065 1,342 113 Deepest Circle, Hel #12 metalcasket, Mar 21, 2020 Gotta say, everything above is very, very convincing. We made a lot of research on the Tea Ceremony and we really wanted to show and make the player be part of this beautiful tradition. I would love to hear what you think of it, Be aware, it is a slow paced level (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
