Also just to ask I seen someone say about beating levels in a time limit to get 3 stars? Do they have timers then? I always like to get all 3 stars but I don’t enjoy timers on games. solarnya Well-Known Member Jul 22, 2015 905 285 63 Male Close to Tokyo, Japan #8 solarnya, Feb 26, 2020 Yes it has timers. You need to break all of bricks on each levels. It's different from peggle. And you can shoot many balls as you can.(I'm not sure it's related to star rating or not) On peggle, you needed to adjust angles. On this game, you need to adjust balls' shooting power. For both, timings. Compared to peggle, this game is more minimalistic IMO ste86uk likes this. macplash Well-Known Member Apr 17, 2014 2,645 1,103 113 Male 3D artist Munich, Germany #9 macplash, Feb 26, 2020 Me neither. I hate being rushed and I have a need to 3 star every level before moving to another. So timers aren’t my thing either. Although, Peggle has some stages with timers as well. I’d need to fire it up on XBox to be sure though. Nevertheless, as @solarnya wrote, this is more minimalistic in comparison to Peggle, which is full of unicorns and rainbows. And there’s nothing wrong with minimalistic, if you ask me. Let’s give Pachoink a shot. ste86uk likes this. ste86uk Well-Known Member May 9, 2012 6,774 999 113 #10 ste86uk, Feb 26, 2020 I was so close to hitting buy but then I checked pocketgamer and they have smal reviews from a bunch of people on it and some liked it but it seemed like mainly they either didn’t like it or said it was only fun in short bursts which set me back to thinking about it again. macplash Well-Known Member Apr 17, 2014 2,645 1,103 113 Male 3D artist Munich, Germany #11 macplash, Feb 26, 2020 @ste86uk LOL, pocketgamer and their App Army facebook group. Let me tell you this: I’ve been there for two years and contributed heavily. I often started conversations, wrote reviews and help others. They’re often organize promo code giveaways either through forms on their website or in closed Facebook group. With exception of Christmas giveaway those codes comes with “strings attached” when you need to write a small review in exchange. After a while I realized the codes goes almost always to the same people. Sure, there’s a staff and they get codes as well, but it’s usually the same people more or less. And unfortunately they’re barely the demographics for said games. Hence, those reviews are always full of nitpicks, issues and disinformation just because they barely tried those games. I left that group months ago and don’t want to have anything to do with them ever again. My advice is to take EVERYTHING you read there with a grain of salt. Or hand-full, in this case. Not to bad mouth anybody, but that’s just a fact. Just check some feedbacks for yourself. If I remember correctly there was a lot of crap written about Trail Boss BMX, even Dead Cells... when I’m in mood I can check exactly at least 8-10 games as an example so you can see for yourself. ste86uk likes this. ste86uk Well-Known Member May 9, 2012 6,774 999 113 #12 ste86uk, Feb 26, 2020 I’ll try to ignore that then and just carry on here, I hardly ever go on their website but sometimes do just to see if there’s anything I didn’t see on here. But I didn’t have a chance to play it properly yet. From what I’ve seen so far, however briefly, it’s really cute yet challenging. I don’t appreciate the timers though. I’ll see how bad it’s gonna be in later stages. ste86uk likes this. macplash Well-Known Member Apr 17, 2014 2,645 1,103 113 Male 3D artist Munich, Germany #14 macplash, Feb 26, 2020 Alright. The timers aren’t actually that bad. I mean, three star (or gold star to be more specific) requirement is kinda benevolent. It’s nowhere close to borderline ridiculous times in Sneak Master where it’s sometimes about tens of a second. There are other little annoyances though. 1. First of all, the timer is making a tick-tock sounds every second. I mean, why? What’s the point? It’s not adding any drama to the gameplay. It just constantly there. Considering the length of levels which is couple of minutes so far, this gets annoying pretty soon. 2. Glass sounds can be a bit overwhelming. Every time you hit a square, it makes this breaking glass sound. With multiple balls in play it sounds like garbage truck disposing of glass from the trash can for separate waste. I’d prefer more subtle and shorter sound effect. 3. Different sound effects, timer ticking and music combined makes it quite a mess. It’s just too much. I had to mute music to make it more tolerable. 4. I started in Dojo world which consist of two parts. After “3 starring” the first part, I get 6 out of 6 gold stars (and of course 6 silver and 6 bronze as well), but to enter 2nd part of this world, I’m required to obtain 10 bronze stars, which means I need to play part in another world just to be able to go back. If this is a way to separate more difficult levels, I get it. Although for us with slight OCD who wants to finish everything before moving elsewhere, this is another minor detail. These are mostly nitpicks. It’s nothing major. Just a slight annoyances, but I’d like to point them out if the dev’s willing to listen and make some adjustments potentially. All in all, this is very polished and entertaining game. Physics is great - there’s even a sensitivity option so controlling the shooting is as smooth as possible. I love the idea and implementation of baskets where you either gain or lose 3 balls. And who knows what’s hidden later. As I wrote previously, I didn’t have a chance to play a lot. I’m really looking forward to find out what else is there. I really recommend this game. It’s a premium experience and well worth its asking price.
