Seems like an odd coincidence. This one saves your progress, doesn’t require your email or Facebook to play, only has the fantasy setting, isn’t optimized for iPad screen size, has some limited graphics, has a nice act/speak toggle eliminating the need for quotes, and I think is going to stay free from what I’ve read while the other will be going paid for full features. sweetdiss likes this. The AI generates some bizarre situations, like my character arriving at a tree that he unable to get around. I’d prefer to see this parser used with a properly scripted story. Ringerill likes this. However, they both seem to be based on the same AI called GTP-2. Since they released the 1.5B version in November, many developper decided to be the first ones to play with it and create an app out of it. Both games are sharing common themes and I guess have trained the model on the same database of stories from the ChoseYouStory dot com website. This one is indeed free so is the AI Dungeon one but as stated by @Royce, it is just momentarily free and the AI Dungeon will require a monthly fee to allow the server expenses (of 5$/month if I understood correctly). Still nothing is said about this game. Maybe it will require a subscription later on too, or maybe the developper will manage to find a public server somehow to avoid that. Still, the way this "game" is played stays the same. Just so you know, don't expect an actual coherent story. Some characters can disappear, the previous events can have no meaning at all, you can reappear somewhere after passing through a simple door, etc. Still it is a fun experience to try out! But it is better to approach it as someone with short term memory loss and not an actual adventurer. Also be warned that some dialogues are not safe for audience. I simply wandered in a town as a rogue, got approached by a woman at night, she pulled me in a dark alley even if I tried to resist her and then, I quote, "You begin to scream as she begins to kiss you passionately". So much for an adventurer... But the actual plot is here, mystery, fights, women, seks. Add just dragons and you might feel like in Game of Thrones! Here is the screenshot as proof of my first moments in my heroic life However, I have some problems with this app as it is possible to access peoples stories publicly if you have a play with the sharing URL! You can share your adventures and that is a cool feature. However, making them public like that is somewhat criticisable. Sure you don't know who the actual person behind the choices is but it is still bad to be able to access it just by modifying the URL... Also, this app seems to be less efficient than the AI Dungeon one because I stumbled across an error stating "Error: The AI could not generate the rest of the story. Sorry about that ". While the AI Dungeon always continued even if it didn't understand the input. I don't know if I prefer the honesty or the obligatory need to continue inventing whatever comes to mind. sweetdiss and Stronsay like this. Ringerill Well-Known Member Dec 13, 2012 315 170 43 #6 Ringerill, Dec 19, 2019 Okay! For those of you wondering if this is a clone of the AI Dungeon game, I have some info. First, yes it is a clone. More precisely, it is a fork of the actual GitHub of AI Dungeon. So this is why both games share some things. However, the Infinite Story is planning to expand differently and also avoid the costly servers. From the Discord discussions going on, both games have the same starting point but the plans for them is different and they might not even be the same at all in some months. For the moment, they will focus on only the Fantasy universe and will try to make the game look more like an actual story. They also plan to involve players in creating new interactions and prompts. And btw, The Infinite Story also has a browser access for the game: https://infinitestory.app (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
