Though it seems as though you lose some gold when you return. Gold is very hard to come by (used for upgrades, building and troops) so this is a major problem. Need more time to confirm. Due to the gold restriction and the linear progression of the game it is quite easy to find yourself stuck with no way of beating a wave. The only option is to delete that game and restart all over. If the intention of the developer was to make a hardcore rogue game with tower defense gameplay, then they succeeded. Good or bad depending where you are coming from. For me it’s bad due to it being frustrating. There are no options at all including audio. The only gameplay option is difficulty level. The game has very large buttons and movement stick which obscure a lot of the screen (iPad Pro 12.9”). You cannot adjust them at all. Further Edit; I had to start playing on easy difficulty. Normal difficulty was simply too hard and gold kept running out. It’s not much easier, though you get a bit more gold at the start. The game is more like a puzzler because you need to work out, through trial and error, what buildings/upgrades the developer had in mind to allow you to progress. It feels like there is a definite pattern to this and you will fail if you don’t follow it correctly. I suppose that could present a nice challenge for some people. At this stage I cannot recommend the game due to it’s frustrating difficulty. I will give it another go in the near future to try and elaborate more on my comments. Every 9 wave is very important its a wheel of fortune bonus round where you can earn a lot of boost and magics. The good way to make gold is to build woodcuterry and stonemine , they are giving +5 gold every wave +2 spears which is very important as a starter. Also on wheel of fortune you can earn gold or gold goblins. Every 10th wave is a boss. Bosses required different strategies. I do not waste soldiers , put them behind walls or upgrade them since the stronger they are less they die and healers heals them.Also please update the steam game or/and phone game so in the last update we put more gold coins as starter. To be honest we had some players and I personally can beat the game (100 waves ) with about 40 praetorians and all max upgrades on easy. Also wall and tower upgrades are very important . The game can be beated with a lot of ways , some ppl more archers some people with towers and walls. It is good to keep good number of builders so they will repair the walls after each wave. It would be nice to have options to relocate the joystick and buttons and to decrease the size of the buttons.
