According to negative reviews there’s not a lot of depth in it. Or variety. No visual customization of Necromancer. Just two commands for the horde etc.. I’m still buying it though. Looks really polished, so I guess I’ll see for myself. EDIT: I just went through game’s beta thread and there’s no feedback on the gameplay whatsoever. I understand people probably responds via email directly to the dev, but it’d be nice to share some thoughts on the matter with public as well. For what it’s worth, I sure would appreciate it. stubbieoz Well-Known Member Jun 23, 2015 1,880 358 83 Male Grey haired gamer NSW Australia #4 stubbieoz, Oct 23, 2019 Last edited: Oct 23, 2019 First impressions, playing on the big iPad Pro; The game looks and plays great. The game in some respects reminds me of Barbearian where you control a whole bunch of followers. You are the necromancer and you can fight yourself and/or control the minions. I like the dark nature of the game where you are the bad guy rather than a righteous hero. The game can be saved at any time though when you return you will be back in your crypt. Any items you picked up will however will still be in your inventory and a teleport system you get early on allows you to quickly go back to where you were. The control system is a virtual joystick and buttons rather than a tap to move/fight/etc, and they are very responsive and work well, though unfortunately there is no customisation. I hope they do implement that, as the size of some buttons and their positions could be improved upon. As they currently stand they are not horrid or hinder gameplay, they just could be better. This is on my big iPad so I don’t know how well the virtual controls work on a smaller iPhone. Happily the game fully supported my Nimbus Steel Series gamepad and the default button layout is pretty much perfect. The game has seperate music and sound effects sliders. The necromancer acknowledges every time you command your minions and I can see that becoming somewhat annoying after a lot of playing. There are skill cards that you can apply to your character upon level ups. At this early stage there appears to be no levelling up of your minions though there are only two types at the beginning and you can get up to a total of approx 24 different types as the game progresses. Enemies drop a decent amount of loot though so far it looks like weapons for the necromancer only, but there is a rarity type system in place - common/magical/legendary type stuff. At this stage the game seems to be more of a hack and slash action rpg rather than any sort of complex micro managing game which suits me just fine. I am completely happy with my purchase of this game so far. syntheticvoid and skoptic like this. anthony78 Well-Known Member Nov 13, 2015 3,128 704 113 #5 anthony78, Oct 23, 2019 The mention of Barbearian does give me a bit of pause. I have only played a couple of hours of Barbearian and then put it aside. I cannot see this game falling to the same fate at all. The controlling of the minions is not as frantic as it was in barbearian and Undead Horde plays more like an action rpg with you as a summoner, and if I remember correctly I don’t think the main character in barbearian had any sort of inventory system? Probably the only real similarity between the two is that you control a lot of dudes. This game is much more slower paced and for me that makes the whole thing better. Oh, a tip for those with the game. Make sure you go back and check that you have fought every enemy and destroyed every building/crate and explored every corner of the various maps. There is some hidden stuff you will want to get. skoptic and anthony78 like this. metalcasket Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze May 24, 2010 11,065 1,342 113 Deepest Circle, Hel #8 metalcasket, Oct 23, 2019 Look, I'll be as blunt as possible. If you're worried a post-Neon Chrome 10tons game is going to be simple, you have nothing to worry about. Yes, while the core gameplay mechanic isn't necessarily the most complex (then again, this is definitely a step up in complexity when compared to the core dual stick mechanic we've come to expect from 10tons), it's a 10tons game. There's layer upon layer of mechanics stacked upon each other, unlockable minions, levelling yourself up, collecting and managing loot, warping, simple minion management...enough shit to keep you busy for hours and hours. It's EASILY my favorite 10tons game ever. I mean, with the theme, level designs...everything (?) being entirely....metal...how could it not be? syntheticvoid likes this. macplash Well-Known Member Apr 17, 2014 2,645 1,103 113 Male 3D artist Munich, Germany #9 macplash, Oct 23, 2019 @metalcasket oh, I’m not worried. I just shared what I read about the game on Steam. I’ve seen a gameplay video earlier this morning and pre-ordered immediately. I usually really don’t care about reviews and whatnot, I just like being informed and acknowledged about what others think. But I like to make my own impressions about the game eventually. And share them with others. Which I will as soon as I have a chance to try the game.
