Complete contracts, conquer milestones, and unlock technology in the newly added Career Mode. AEROSPACE SANDBOX Juno: New Origins is a 3D aerospace sandbox where players can use customizable parts to construct and test rockets, planes, cars, or anything they can imagine in an environment with realistic physics across land, sea, air, and space. CAREER MODE + TECH TREE Take control of your own aerospace company and earn money and tech points as you progress through the game. Complete contracts to earn money, and discover a mixture of hand-crafted and procedural contracts that offer countless hours of new gameplay. Conquer milestones and explore landmarks to earn tech points and unlock new technology in the tech tree. Interactive tutorials are available to show how to build and operate rockets, cars, and airplanes. RESIZE AND RESHAPE PARTS Stretch and shape fuel tanks, wings, cargo bays, fairings, and nose cones with easy-to-use tools that help you create exactly what you want. Resize solar panels, landing gear, pistons, jet engines, etc to fit your needs. Paint your craft custom colors and tweak their reflectiveness, emissiveness, and texture styles. DESIGN ROCKET AND JET ENGINES Engines can be adjusted in a myriad of ways, such as changing the power cycle, combustion pressure, gimbal range, fuel type, and adjusting nozzle performance and visuals. You can customize an engine to be a power house for lift off, or to be a super optimized vacuum engine that maximizes Isp for interplanetary travel. The engine's performance affects its visuals in flight too as shown by the exhaust's expansion or contraction based on its interplay with the atmospheric pressure. Shock diamonds are pretty but they are a symptom of suboptimal engine performance! If you don't care about any of this, then you can just attach a pre-built engine and hit launch! PROGRAM YOUR CRAFTS Easily drag and drop code blocks to program your crafts to log telemetry, automate them, design your own MFD touch screens, etc. With Vizzy, a programming language designed specifically for Juno: New Origins, you can expand the capabilities of your crafts while learning programming, maths, physics, etc. REALISTIC ORBIT SIMULATION Orbits are realistically simulated and support time-warp so you don't have to wait several months to reach another planet. The Map View makes it easy to see your orbits and plan future burns, which you can use to set up future encounters with other planets or satellites. DOWNLOAD CRAFTS, SANDBOXES, AND MORE Download from a huge collection of user-uploaded crafts, sandboxes, and planets on SimpleRockets.com. Upload your own crafts and sandboxes and share them with the community. Rise through the ranks from a white level builder to a gold level builder and beyond. A couple of functions didn’t respond but was able to map those to other keys. It can of course be played solely with screen taps. For a rocket to fly, the engines first have to be assigned to a stage number; then press the stage button (or space bar) after increasing the throttle to start the engines. Truncana Well-Known Member Mar 18, 2013 623 91 28 #4 Truncana, Sep 19, 2019 One question: is there a first person view (cockpit) in this game? Asp Well-Known Member Aug 3, 2017 769 196 43 #5 Asp, Sep 20, 2019 No, it’s not that sort of game, but the exterior views are way better than SR 1. It’s really a sandbox for building and flying space vehicles. There are a few challenges to help learn about construction and orbital mechanics, and then the possibilities seem endless. Additionally, there is a library of user created craft. Truncana Well-Known Member Mar 18, 2013 623 91 28 #6 Truncana, Apr 21, 2020 Even if there is not a cockpit view, is there at least a firs person docking view? Asp Well-Known Member Aug 3, 2017 769 196 43 #7 Asp, Apr 21, 2020 No first person docking view either. Same with the PC version. Internal views have been requested for some time but no sign of their being added. Truncana Well-Known Member Mar 18, 2013 623 91 28 #8 Truncana, Dec 19, 2020 Hi! Just wondering if after recent updates they introduced first person view or cockpits in Simple Rockets 2 for iOS? Asp Well-Known Member Aug 3, 2017 769 196 43 #9 Asp, Dec 19, 2020 There’s no standard first person view. However, there are fixed cameras available during construction which could in theory be placed inside a cockpit. These are then selectable during flight. (Vehicle courtesy of WhyAeroSpace). Asp Well-Known Member Aug 3, 2017 769 196 43 #11 Asp, Dec 19, 2020 You can do that but I think you’ll be disappointed with the result. SR2 is not about piloting spaceships like in a video game. It’s primarily a physics program emulating rocket design, orbital mechanics, gravity and all that good stuff. Directional control of ships is done by entering numerical values to set course and inclination. It’s still fun in an educational sort of way. Truncana Well-Known Member Mar 18, 2013 623 91 28 #12 Truncana, Dec 19, 2020 yes I know that SP2 is a real simulation. I usually play Space Simulator for iOS, which is technically and historically accurate. In that game there is the possibility to look from inside the cockpit of an Apollo capsule and manoeuver it via a joystick like command. I was wondering if in SP2 the experience could be similar. Asp Well-Known Member Aug 3, 2017 769 196 43 #13 Asp, Dec 19, 2020 Thanks for the heads up about Space Simulator. It looks excellent so I’ll have to get that too! Especially if it’s historically accurate. I’ve looked at the screenshots and SR2 does not have anything like those detailed cockpit views. Truncana likes this.
