Each level you complete, you get 5 stars. Stars contribute to unlocking new shoes, which change the background and the laces you see when joining words. Hints are available, and you'll lose one star per hint used. Which... doesn't... feel right. The only "cost" of using a Hint is a slower progression to your next shoe, which grants purely cosmetic additions. As such, hints have no scarcity (there's no "watch an ad!" to get more, no recharge timer, no buy-more-hints IAP), and thus you tend to use them more often simply because you can. That, in turn, lessens the strength of this puzzler as a puzzle - nothing feels like a challenge because there's no little downside to reaching for the answer. I don’t like complex puzzles but this looks fun! MiniMega likes this. I'll gladly subscribe to be free of that crap. Thanks for the info about the hints though I used a couple as it didn’t seem to cost anything but now I know it costs stars I’ll try to use them less unless I’m really stuck rather than being impatient. At first I wondered why it’s such a huge file for a word game but then I figured it’s because each puzzle has a picture so that’ll take up a lot of space. Personally I don’t really care about the shoes or laces, just thought I’d give the game a try as I could play with my wife as she doesn’t really game at all but likes word games. MiniMega likes this. Not only due to the stars and unlockable shoes, but because it has so many filler levels. (More levels = more ads between.) I played the first 11 levels and they were so easy that I wish there was an option to skip ahead to level 40 and see if that's more of a challenge. 1.5GB for a game like this seems a bit much, too. I'd say it's maybe "slightly" more difficult, but only because the words they're looking for get "tricky-er". Like, a father and son learning how to play guitar and the word is BONDING. Or, ACOUSTIC cos it's a normal guitar instead of an electric one. That seems to be happening a LOT more lately - where the words are not physical things in the picture, but feelings or concepts epitomized by the picture. Can't say I'm a huge fan of it. I was gonna decide if I wanted to keep playing at level 100, and currently I'm skewing toward "rarely". There’s nothing wrong with it as a word game but I do agree with you Morbus that the words start becoming things that aren’t even in the pictures and they are just something relating to it which to me sometimes feels like a complete guess or something you wouldn’t have thought of when looking at the picture. But still sometimes it’s a clever design to get more words out of a picture. I’m more looking forward to say what you see returning in that aspect though. MiniMega likes this.
