These kinds of games makes me frustrated, angry and potentially prone to destruction of my highly valued devices. Not "these kinds of games" per se, more like my lack of skill to be any good at them. Nevertheless, if there's a choice I'd rather stay away from them. Still, I appreciate your effort and especially the giveaway of promo codes for those whom enjoy the game but can't afford to remove ads by themselves. It's a nice gesture. Thank you for that and in return I wish you a good luck with your game to be a success. Fronne Active Member Oct 11, 2018 39 4 8 Male The Netherlands #4 Fronne, Sep 14, 2019 It's perhaps better to stop looking in boxes and start looking at the actual game, "these kind of games" is way too general to judge Slappy Limbs without trying it out yourself. Or am I wrong and did you try it yourself? If you refer to Flappy Bird with "these kind of games", because you have to tap the screen to perform an action, I like to challenge you to try the game yourself and give your honest opinion AFTER PLAYING Slappy Limbs yourself... Please note, I give many reviews (assets and plugins) myself, but only after trying it out in person. One or two 30 seconds movies is not the right way to judge a game, plugin, asset or whatever else... When you compare "these kind of games" with Slappy Limbs, one of the many differences is a health bar. You loose only 5 percent of your health when getting hit, so it takes 20 hits (if not dropping to through the floor) before you have to smash one of your highly valued devices into pieces... I appreciate your feedback, however, I would appreciate your feedback even more if you try Slappy Limbs yourself and come back on it later! I prefer a bad review after playing Slappy Limbs, over a good review without trying it out. I always try to listen to feedback and try to improve our games! I made many mistakes in the past, learned a lot and try not to make those mistakes again... Cheers! Franco Palmieri macplash Well-Known Member Apr 17, 2014 2,645 1,103 113 Male 3D artist Munich, Germany #5 macplash, Sep 14, 2019 @Fronne wow! You seem so defensive and irritated for some reason. It wasn't my intention to judge the book by its cover. I didn't give any review or feedback just because I had no immediate plans to play the game. All I wanted to do was to give you the compliment for sharing promo codes and to wish you good luck with the game. But ok, fair enough. Flappy Bird is exactly the kind of game I was referring to. Having a health bar doesn't make any difference for me. One mistake or 20, the result is the same. The game mechanics are the same. With just one life you're destined to fail sooner. There's no more depth in it. So, as you pointed out. To be allowed to criticize I did try the game myself first. I gave it 5 full attempts out of which I received green belt 4 times. It was everything I expected. It fits perfectly into "these kinds of games" category. To be specific, the category of games I have no intention to play whatsoever. It doesn't bring me any joy. I find nothing entertaining about it. But since you wanted a feedback, here goes. First of all, the game lacks any explanation of what is going on. There's a bar with Punches and I have no idea what does it mean. I thought it's the amount of punches I do throughout my run, but it doesn't do anything when I automatically hit the wooden plate. Although sometimes I do punch instead of "jump", that's when the number of punches starts decreasing. How and why? I have no idea. I don't like visuals of the game. At all. There's only one background. Not to mention too contrast and distracting. Sometimes I can't even see those spinning shurikens because of it. Speaking of spinning shurikens. I understand it's probably done right, but it feels like hitboxes should be more generous. It feels like I'm jumping exactly between the spinning blades and I'm being hit anyway. As I said, it's probably done right, it just doesn't feel like it. To continue on visuals, the basic font just irritates me. It lacks any creativity. It's like taking the first one available without giving it any thought or effort whatsoever. What is it? Verdana, Tahoma? It just feels so default and unoriginal. And it probably is. To bring up Flappy Bird once again, I really like its pixel art. To be honest, pixel art would be a perfect fit for such simple game like yours. Right now it feels like all the graphics was made by a programmer. Just to have any. Like it was a bi-product of a programming process. I just can't find anything pleasing to the eye there. There are tons of "simple" games out there done right. After the Flappy Bird phenomenon there was suddenly a new category created and everyone wanted a piece of pie for themselves. Some games added to the simple mechanics, some stood up visually. But no matter what, they still ends up being compared to the original. That being said, if I had any interest in these kinds of games, I'd rather pick Flappy Bird. I'd like to finish this feedback on a positive note even though you didn't take it the first time I tried. I'm sure there are people out there whom enjoy these exact easy to pick up games. They might enjoy it. They might give you some feedback as well. Perhaps the 5 star reviews will speak for the game itself. We'll see. Anyway, I appreciate you challenge me to get a blue belt. I'm afraid my lack of patience, skill and interest prevents me from being able to achieve that. At least I gave it a honest try. It's the least I can do after all. I was excited to try it because I like Pinball since I first played the real machine in the Arcade as a kid. Imagine my surprise when finding out it's more Space Invaders despite its title. Two paddles doesn't make it a pinball. So because of my initial disappointment I'm not even trying that one. Yes! Arkanoid is one of my favorite genres in casual category. I'll definitely give it a go even though I can already see there'll be more to it thanks to those pinball-esque paddles. Question is if it's a good thing or not so much. Let's figure it out. Famory looks interesting and since it reminds me of Rules! I'm definitely trying it. I'm an older person and my memory isn't as good as in my youth but there's no harm in trying a game I might like, especially for a good cause. See? This is a typical programmer's point of view. And that's where you're wrong. I understand the gameplay is the most important aspect of any game. But it needs to look good to attract the crowd. Screenshots and images are the first form of presentation and marketing. Gameplay video or trailers are secondary. A lot of people doesn't even tap on a video if they're not intrigued by the pictures. And I'm not saying you have to hire an artist for the game to have stunning visuals and be successful. There's a lot of great looking games out there and despite the crappy gameplay mechanics they're played by millions. It's like universal rule: "sex sells". The same goes for graphics in games. As I said, you don't need a professional artist for UI/UX design to make the menu or in-game HUD look better. You don't need a separate specialist for modeling, texturing, rigging, shading, lighting or rendering. But outsourcing the whole visual style to a single 2D/3D generalist wouldn't hurt imho. I understand it's additional expense. But you can find a lot of talented designers in their beginnings willing to work on interesting projects just to improve their skills or build up a portfolio. All I'm saying is, I'm not doing programming myself if I'm not particularly good at it. And mainly, when comes to it I'm not claiming it's not important for whatever reason. But! What do I know, right? I'm not a developer. I didn't release multiple games already like you. So, take it with a grain of salt. I worked on some games, true. Making models for Brink or Motorstorm on consoles. But as a small part of a much bigger team. Being one man company is about making compromises, I get it.
