That was a good joke in my humble opinion! I agree with @Stronsay that the game becomes unbearable with the amount of information and descriptions there are. That is to be expected from any space simulation game I believe. But the most fun part of it is that it didn't stop me playing because you don't need a fully functional brain for it... For 1-2 hours all I had to do was go to point A -> spam the attack button -> return to base -> go to point B -> spam the attack button again -> and so on. You don't get to control you ship, all you can do is to select a target flying around you, click on your weapons to fire and wait for the cooldowns then simply repeat the process and hope you don't die until everyone is dead. Sure the first missions are supposed to be easy because they serve as a tutorial but I don't think that the gameplay will change after that. I already guess that later on, you will be blocked at one point because you won't deal enough damage to ships and you won't have enough hull points to survive (will you lose your ship then? I hope not). Then you will have to pay to repair your ship, stock on ammunitions (because every missile/laser/bullet you fire is a consumable) and upgrade/buy some parts. In theory, this is a rational thing in any "RPG" but from what I saw, there seems to be a limit of missions you can do daily (it basically showed in a mission that you have to send a probe to scan the galaxy and find some missions). But after I used the probe, a wonderful time counter of 20+ hours appeared meaning that you don't have unlimited missions per day. What is it with this idea to limit the amount of Quests/XP/Loot/Dungeons you can do daily? Sure it allows everyone to be on the same page but in the end, it just makes me feel like a zombie simply checking his daily routine without feeling any joy of completion. Also I didn't find a way to simply wander around and explore, apart from warping from point A to B. And for me in a space game and MMO, one of the big points is to be able to explore the galaxy, even if there is nothing to do in 90% of the available space. So for the first missions, you are overloaded with money, ammunitions, etc, but I fear that sooner or later, you will struggle just to maintain yourself to steadily advance in the game. Add to that timers, monthly subscriptions for resources and pay-to-win shops (I can only assume judging by the rewards/ships/premium currency offered), this will just end like every "free" MMOs on mobile... Yeah I know that it was unfair to compare an EVE clone to a space flight sim but I was more sad to know that the ships flies without any input and it just becomes a fight to the death (so basically who has the most HP and damage). I still would like to know if the gameplay changes later on. Do you have a more strategical approach of fights? Are you running out of resources fast and how easily can you replenish then? Tucker Active Member Nov 14, 2009 38 4 8 #13 Tucker, Sep 15, 2019 Please think TWICE before you are going to Play/Pay for this game. Discussion PSA: English is not my native language. If you don't understand. Please feel free to ask and I will try my best to explain for you. We are coming from HongKonger (HKer), one of the guild of the Alliance that mostly formed by Hong Kong players. The below list are the Guilds that Alliance was originally included: HongKonger (HKer) HK Glory (HKG) HKFREEARMY (HKFA) Free HK (FHK) FEHK (HKE) HK Legend (HKS) HK Freedom (F4F) There're total over 1000 players were the members of the Alliance. Around GMT+8 9:30pm, all of the members noticed that their own guild-masters was being hacked. Some of the GM were attempted to login their account but the below picture popped up: https://i.imgur.com/sTEV6VC.jpg In English, that's mean "You account has been [Mandated]. Unable to login." Is that funny that someone would "Mandated" your account but not the owner? Around GMT+8 10:15pm, those "Mandated" guild-masters started kicking ALL members of their own guilds. And of course, their account were still unable to login again after this. https://i.imgur.com/Qo8PVlM.jpg https://i.imgur.com/eYemIKR.jpg https://i.imgur.com/ckfvqix.jpg https://i.imgur.com/M3lNWBJ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/P6RmOVK.jpg https://i.imgur.com/aqK8jHm.jpg We even noticed some other Hong Kong guilds were sharing the same FATE even they are not in our Alliance. These guilds were also included the words either "Hong Kong" or "HK" in their guild name. Not long after, Announcement has been made by official account from the famous forum in China which called "Tieba" in their sub-forum. Here is the rough translation of that. https://i.imgur.com/MEohQo9.jpg Hello Commander, If the council noticed anyone that might "damage" the authority of the Nation(China). Please report and we would handle it. The council would not allow anything that go against with the laws of China. So, you might ask, what does the Alliance did that making the company go against HK players in this way? NOTHING We were not insulting China or Chinese players while in the game. We were not making any noise about the protests of Hong Kong. We were not arguing with other Chinese players in poor manners. And no way for all the members of the Alliance violence the rules in this scale. We were simply just wanna play a game that look like a EVE ripoff, as a Hong Kong people. Unfortunately, it is not allowed. We had refunded all the money we spent on this game. We hope you think twice before spending anymore Time or Money by telling the fate of our Alliance. Bummer. hutq Member Sep 11, 2019 12 5 3 Male #15 hutq, Sep 17, 2019 Just checking in with more impressions. I’m still playing the game daily and approaching level 30. The game definitely still has its hooks in me and is the main game I’m playing right now. Missions are much more difficult at this point and there is far more variety to what you can do and missions require much more strategy. I’ve actually failed several times and lost a few ships. You have to actually plan your loadouts for mission types and and use the right ships and also not be afraid to bail out on a mission getting too tough and warp out of there. Also using the right wingman and leveling them up is important too. I’m also more and more impressed by the variety of stories. The main campaign isn’t the most interesting but you can find some pretty interesting random encounters out there just by exploring and scanning space and exploring wormholes. I’m also continually impressed by the attention to detail in the graphics. I have several ships with small fins and parts on them that move and shift when the ship goes into warp. There are just so many little polished things that really blow me away about this game. I’m thoroughly impressed by the level of AAA development for a f2p game. This easily could’ve been a cash grab with little invested in graphics and gameplay but the game is actually fun to play and gorgeous to look at. I can’t think of any other f2p game where I actually use the camera mode to take screenshots because it looks so good. JasonLL Well-Known Member Feb 21, 2014 546 106 43 Male #16 JasonLL, Sep 17, 2019 Last edited: Sep 17, 2019 Same here. This game has definitely become my go to mobile MMO at the moment. I was amazed the first time I zoomed all the way out on the realm map screen and saw just how many solar systems there were to explore. Most of the main story, so far, takes place in a tiny area compared to the size of the entire galaxy. I still haven’t gotten into the massive alliance wars yet but I definitely want to get my feet wet when I have a better understanding of the game and a bit more confidence. I think the main campaign would be a bit better if the translation wasn’t as rough as it is currently in certain spots. Scanning for random encounters in different solar systems has been really fun and a couple of those encounters have been very interesting to say the least. The rep quests and sub quests also have some really cool stories to tell. Ringerill Well-Known Member Dec 13, 2012 315 170 43 #17 Ringerill, Sep 17, 2019 Thanks for the heads up. I hope more people will be aware of this problem (it's quite an euphemism to even say that). Touch Arcade is not a place for political debates or anything of this sort but I do hope that people here will pay attention to this. It happens to dislike a developer/publisher when they don't care for their public but this is way above that. It seems that this story is genuine and I am really ashamed for this company. When a company cares more about the game making money than the community and morals, it is a big no for me, even if the game is good and popular... hutq Member Sep 11, 2019 12 5 3 Male #18 hutq, Sep 19, 2019 I don’t know man. I get what you’re saying but I still like the game itself. I mean go look in the TA site feedback forums. TA is banning the entire country of India from accessing the site because of spam bots. Sucks for India and frankly I don’t think it’s ethically cool but I get that there is only so much man power and so many hours in the day. Companies reserve the right to make sweeping bans for whatever reason they feel they need to and there are two sides to every story. JasonLL Well-Known Member Feb 21, 2014 546 106 43 Male #19 JasonLL, Sep 19, 2019 I certainly don’t question the authenticity of the story but the problem is a lot larger than a single company or disliking a company that probably had to make a decision they weren’t happy with. I mean let’s hate Blizzard too since they had to censor language in World Of Warcraft a couple months back on the Chinese servers due to the protests. Or any other company that has to adjust to the politics of the time in certain parts of the world. All I’m saying is if your a company and your going to play ball in China your more than likely going have to take censorship measures or play somewhere else. Let me tell you once you join a Corp and really delve into the multiplayer aspect of the game the challenge and strategy picks up. Last night I did a Corp quest with about 8 other members that required us to fly in a fleet and coordinate our attacks and ship builds. We had 2 healers and the rest attackers. I was the gunner and had to select targets for our whole fleet to attack. It was honestly like a raid in an MMO. It took about 1 hour to complete and at the end it felt like we had really accomplished a high level raid. I have never had this much fun playing an online game on my phone. If anyone is interested in joining my corp our corp tag is HOPE. We are going to do nightly corp quests as a team around 9 EST. We are very active and really help each other learn the game. If you play the license missions in the game it does show off things like flanking, choosing targets in the right order and having correct load outs for success. It’s mostly people taking issue with anything labeled “free 2 play” and assuming they’re all evil predatory games.
I get it is a total rip off from Eve, but hey, I can take this and play it wherever I want. Truly having a blast with it. Please think TWICE before you are going to Play/Pay for this game. Discussion PSA: English is not my native language. If you don't understand. Please feel free to ask and I will try my best to explain for you. We are coming from HongKonger (HKer), one of the guild of the Alliance that mostly formed by Hong Kong players. The below list are the Guilds that Alliance was originally included: HongKonger (HKer) HK Glory (HKG) HKFREEARMY (HKFA) Free HK (FHK) FEHK (HKE) HK Legend (HKS) HK Freedom (F4F) There're total over 1000 players were the members of the Alliance. Around GMT+8 9:30pm, all of the members noticed that their own guild-masters was being hacked. Some of the GM were attempted to login their account but the below picture popped up: https://i.imgur.com/sTEV6VC.jpg In English, that's mean "You account has been [Mandated]. Unable to login." Is that funny that someone would "Mandated" your account but not the owner? Around GMT+8 10:15pm, those "Mandated" guild-masters started kicking ALL members of their own guilds. And of course, their account were still unable to login again after this. https://i.imgur.com/Qo8PVlM.jpg https://i.imgur.com/eYemIKR.jpg https://i.imgur.com/ckfvqix.jpg https://i.imgur.com/M3lNWBJ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/P6RmOVK.jpg https://i.imgur.com/aqK8jHm.jpg We even noticed some other Hong Kong guilds were sharing the same FATE even they are not in our Alliance. These guilds were also included the words either "Hong Kong" or "HK" in their guild name. Not long after, Announcement has been made by official account from the famous forum in China which called "Tieba" in their sub-forum. Here is the rough translation of that. https://i.imgur.com/MEohQo9.jpg Hello Commander, If the council noticed anyone that might "damage" the authority of the Nation(China). Please report and we would handle it. The council would not allow anything that go against with the laws of China. So, you might ask, what does the Alliance did that making the company go against HK players in this way? NOTHING We were not insulting China or Chinese players while in the game. We were not making any noise about the protests of Hong Kong. We were not arguing with other Chinese players in poor manners. And no way for all the members of the Alliance violence the rules in this scale. We were simply just wanna play a game that look like a EVE ripoff, as a Hong Kong people. Unfortunately, it is not allowed. We had refunded all the money we spent on this game. We hope you think twice before spending anymore Time or Money by telling the fate of our Alliance. Thank you for your attention. {saw this on Reddit ios. thought it would be useful to potential customers}
Just checking in with more impressions.
Same here.
Thanks for the heads up.
I don’t know man.
I certainly don’t question the authenticity of the story but the problem is a lot larger than a single company or disliking a company that probably had to make a decision they weren’t happy with.
So another update. I'm still playing daily and now I'm active in a Corp.
