How are the touchscreen controls? cawaker Member May 27, 2013 10 2 3 #5 cawaker, Sep 4, 2019 The controls are okay, but there's a stomp mechanic when landing where you have to hold down on the left side of the screen, but I keep doing that but then sliding down a bit which causes it to Ollie, so it's very awkward and causes me to crash a bunch. other than that it's pretty fun. Would have preferred the controls to be a bit simpler. Keep missing them or doing the wrong ones. Lots of potential though. Just need to get used to them. Would have liked an ‘altos’ mode where you just tap and hold anywhere to jump jpgold Well-Known Member Sep 21, 2012 1,818 56 48 Online Ad Sales - Pandora New York, NY #10 jpgold, Sep 4, 2019 Was just about to say the exact same thing. Feel like this is the "action Alto" I've always wanted, and is really well done. The controls just make it really frustrating, and feel like I have to think too much about what I want to do vs just being able to do it naturally. The controls themselves are spot on, its more the implementation of the tricks that could be simplified. The comparison to Pumped BMX is very apt in that way. The downside is that it takes some time and even then still might not click with everyone, but the upside is that once you get good you can pull off some complicated crap and it's really satisfying. cawaker Member May 27, 2013 10 2 3 #12 cawaker, Sep 4, 2019 I've been playing some more this morning and I've found it's just easiest to stay in the crouched Ollie position in between jumps. I haven't noticed any speed difference between standing and crouched but it's possible I've missing something. macplash Well-Known Member Apr 17, 2014 2,645 1,103 113 Male 3D artist Munich, Germany #13 macplash, Sep 4, 2019 I'm not disappointed per sé. I was just expecting something jaw-dropping, GOTY contender even. But this is not it. Sure, it's fun. Enjoyable. Well worth its price tag. It's just far less what I was hoping for. So, yeah. Not sure if I will give it a go. macplash Well-Known Member Apr 17, 2014 2,645 1,103 113 Male 3D artist Munich, Germany #19 macplash, Sep 6, 2019 @Stag it's not terrible nor unplayable. It just could've been better. More user-friendly if I may say. The controls are tricky. A bit too overwhelming. Too complicated. Just to pull a simple grind requires a combination of both thumbs and multiple gestures. You need to 1. crouch 2. jump 3. begin grind 4. keep grind going 5. jump to finish grind 6. stomp In Alto you just tap once to do all of that. In Pumped BMX you swipe once in the right direction. Maybe I'm too casual of a player. I just don't find it enjoyable to be required to learn patterns to pull a simple trick. Hell, it's easier to do a fatality in old Mortal Kombat games than pull a trick here Ijipop and cawaker like this.
