After finally getting everything nice & neat & placed in folders Multitasking doesn't even pick up tge games where they left off...they simply re-open. That might be cool for pandora but games are the apps that need to stay where they are or what's the point of switching back & forth??? I might as well home button quit & open up text...home quit that & open the game, cause that's what's happening essentially.
Here's some light from another site It appears like there’s a couple things going on. First, with built-in Apple apps, like Mail, if you “delete” it from the fast task switcher, you will still receive Mail (it doesn’t kill the background thread that checks, sounds/vibrates, and updates the badge) but the app seems to do some sort of data cache refresh at times. For App Store apps, if you “delete” them it does appear to force a reset when next you launch them, i.e. they won’t resume from the previously saved state and their threads seem to be restarted. [Thanks Justin!]
I think a game has to be updated to work with multitasking, so you probably are playing un-updated games.
I think your right but it's gonna suck waiting for every dev to update. Hell there's still games without calibration or screen orrientation options.
"Multitasking is available with apps that have been developed to work with iOS 4." http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/ios4-software-update.html
Several of my apps and games have had updates for iOS4 compatibility, but most haven't mentioned support for any iOS 4 features. That's disappointing, but I'm sure it will all work itself out before too long. Once iOS4 is released, the app updates will start to flowing.
I don't understand why Apple is forcing devs to specifically enable multitasking for their apps (and forcing users to wait for that) rather than having on by defaul. I mean what reason can there possibly be for an app not to support multitasking?
Multitasking, like dancing, requires a partnership. An app needs to be aware that multitasking is possible; otherwise it will quit when it's not active. The same is true for your desktop, but these days multitasking is a given and pretty much every app supports it (though some games don't). Keep in mind, too, that iPhone apps will use a save-state multitasking and not simple background processing (to save power and improve process speed); apps will need to specfy how they save their state. It's not just a matter of flipping a switch.
Dude. It's only just coming out today. Give developers time to release updates. I'm sure there will be plenty that never get updated, but you'll probably see a flurry of updates over the next few weeks and months to support multitasking and other new OS4 features.
