Wireless charging isn't too far away. Well, it might be, but it's been done already so it's definitely on the cards. That seems like a good step to me. Battery life still might not be too good but at least if you're at home or at some predefined public charging station you can keep playing without having to connect yourself to the wall.
If you turn wireless off, does that kill Street Pass? If so, then Street Pass is dead in the water. No one is going to have their WiFi on. Or does it use something other the WiFi?
I'm guessing it would use the same sort of local connection as DS download play, if it used wifi then it would be practically useless even if wifi was on because you will hardly ever be connected to a wifi spot out and about while walking around
