[Review] DATE A LIVE: Rio Reincarnation (by YouNa) DATE A LIVE: Rio Reincarnation. It's a Japanese style visual novel adventure produced by Idea Factory, Compile Heart, and Sting. This game is a sequel for the 2 games(Rinne Utopia and Ars Install). It features a new original story with a new original anime game character Rio. Kindly, the game has a digest part for players who do not know its original animation and light novel. Thanks to such contents, both old fans and new users can enjoy this game. It's a romance visual novel that the player can have dates with lots of anime girls. While I find myself fall in to any game with romance, I mainly focus on how nice the writers will make story and take the relationships. This is what made me excited to play this game. It’s pretty valuable to be able to play an adventure visual novel based on a light novel as the global version. In the game, maybe you will probably play its common route multiple time and then you are having dates with various girls. Though this repetitive play part might sound like a bad feature, the actual game experience will be different than you think. I was really surprised at how well its scenario writer created its story plot that unfolded so naturally across to the common routes. For example, when you focus on a particular girl, even if it is a common event, minor changes occur depending on your dateable girl. It means that even if there are many girls available to romance, the game pace is not boring and it makes the story more solid. The game content includes mostly slice of life scenes and featured light-hearted. It has lots of comedic themes, the game vibe keeps contents cute without getting too perverted. Most date events are involved in player's everyday school life and the player is surrounded by the girls who like you. When you keep advancing, the game map picture will newly appear. By selecting the icon of any anime character that displayed on its map, it's possible to look at the event of that character. There are 2 maps exists in the game, you can go back and forth in these 2 maps and search for the heroine you would like to invite for a date. The best thing I really liked was that the date events are tied to each other well and had actual connections. Sometimes your heroine will be angry with you and you have options to release her feelings. Besides, it's possible to romance anyone you like and simply play side events. There are 7 endings available. In order to achieve its true ending, you should get all the normal endings beforehand. And all of them differ from each other and have each own unique. Above all, it shows 2D live anime CGs so natural that it looks like the characters breathing. It was really impressive and makes this game even more surely valuable. If you are looking for a nice anime romance visual novel type adventure game, this will be a good choice.
