Not sure I enjoy going back a level every time I die? So you complete a level, then die in the next level you have to repeat the previous level. That kind kills it for me.. But I’ll give it a decent play after work. Never played anything quite like it. You move through the dungeon hallways in first-person one step at a time while a timer (represented by a bar at the top) slowly decreases. Every incorrect move also decreases the bar. Wrong moves range anywhere from attacking an enemy one too many times to moving into a dead end rather than turning. Learning how to take down enemies becomes a must, and is quite easy to pick up on since the enemy designs are distinct from one another. There appears to be 10 or so floors as well as an unlock-able endless mode. Ads can be bought out for $3, but if you don’t mind the 5 second skippable kind you should be all set to play for free. I will say the ads do appear after almost every level, which can be frequent due to the fast paced levels. The pixel art and sounds are fantastic, as can be expected from Nitrome, and the little details are really nice. For example, you start out with a lantern, sword, helmet and boots. Coins you earn in-game can be used to purchase new equipment that is cosmetic only, with some exceptions. But I couldn’t resist fighting with a fish and trying on some high-heels. To my surprise, the patting of the boots on the rocky floor was replaced with that annoying clicking sound of high-heels! Awesome stuff. I’m not experiencing that on my end. After I die I start at the same level. Edit: You’re right. You have to unlock the level by beating it first, then you start there when you die. Or you can continue once by paying 50 coins or watching an ad. vectorarchitekt Well-Known Member Dec 29, 2013 2,489 177 63 #5 vectorarchitekt, Jun 13, 2019 Clever idea, another classic from Nitrome. Would love the option to swipe for direction and tap the enemies. Hardest part is actually hitting the buttons. The game really starts to get fun once you learn the attacks needed for each enemy and get into a rhythm. One of the head gear you can equip actually changes the color palette, and another is a duck bill with a strap that makes you “quack” when making the wrong move. There’s a lot of relics to collect that are stored on one of the menu screens. I’m not sure what they do, but I will say there’s little Easter egg there that unlocks an achievement if you do a certain thing. But definitely seems more of a reflex and memory game for your moves and enemies just needing to be quick and also not get hit but as you get further going slower to not get hit doesn’t work as you run out of time. Seems like it would be a good game for people into that kind of thing but this one isn’t for me. stubbieoz likes this. gmattergames Well-Known Member Mar 1, 2013 607 42 28 #9 gmattergames, Jun 13, 2019 For a game that relies on speed and penalizes mistakes so heavily, Id love to play in landscape with two hands. It would also be nice if there was occasional loot that added/slowed time, or gear/treasure that nullified your first penalty, etc. I know that sounds like nerfing the game, but I think it would add depth. Regarding level fail/restart, I’m finding that on levels I’m attempting to unlock, if I fail I’m prompted to pay 50 gold or watch an Ad, otherwise, pushed back a level. Regardless, the pushback penalty is a bit over-handed and ultimately forces the player to grind completed levels or pay. Something of note no one mentioned yet. When you completely close the game and load it up later, your back to the first floor. You still have everything you unlocked in equipment and collectables though. Very coin slot arcade feel in that way. Tip 1 : Just walking over the chests does not loot the chests. You have to attack the chest to actually open the damn thing. Lol, I went through the first 6 stages before accidentally realizing that... Tip #2 isn't a tip, it's a SPOILER! I thought the "replay level" was a bug too, but it looks like a penalty for dying. Not a fan of that, but good game nonetheless. 4/5 (You must log in or sign up to post here.) Show Ignored Content Share This Page Tweet Your name or email address: Do you already have an account?
