Sketch Wars is a Tower Defense game with hand drawn, wacky graphics. I started this project as a part of my journey to learn art, digital drawing and animations. But Had such a blast during, that ended up with a full game.. Some characters are so stupid.. Sometimes it will give 1000+ instead of 250. Other times it seems to be zero. But more likely it gives way too many. -Not sure how stars on levels work. Level 2 for instance. I beat it without taking damage and still 1 Star. -Life bars on enemies would be nice. I love the idea and graphics. Seems like it takes inspiration from Hidden Folks. I just can’t seem to get into it though. The map for the level select is too cluttered and ill also try to remove elements form inside the levels. The first 2 worlds suffer from this the most (Jungle and Town) because there are a lot a trees there.. Ill try to improve on this in the next update and release it in a couple days - Definitely a bug, thanks for pointing it out ill fix it. Btw, would you say 250 skulls is a lot? would recommend reducing this amount? - End level stars and reward are a calculation of your stats at the end of the level. The Stats are: your health, remained build points and remained spell points... So if you finish the level with low build points and not full spell power you can easily get 1 star without taking any damage. Maybe this should be tweaked down a little bit to be less punishing - I though about doing those during the development but eventually decided to try resolve it by keeping the arrows stuck on the enemies so you can estimate how much damage they took by the number of arrows stuck on them. Tougher enemies can get a lot of enemies on them before dying the first "Angry Stick" can get barely 2.. Its also depends on which arrows... The Log Archers, Bow Archers or The Elite Archers, because each have different damage stats. Also maybe adding life bars will make it even more cluttered like you mentioned before? About the inspiration, to be honest I didn't took it from anywhere.. Im a programmer and Im trying to learn drawing, sketching, digital drawing, animation and such. So did this project to "get my hands dirty" (Im a strong believer that it is the best way to learn new skills). And I did! Learned a lot and had a blast during too! So there was really no inspiration, I really just was trying to make stuff simple (thus the no color btw), at start I could barely draw a circle. Actually had to redraw things I started with because they did not fit the style once things started to flow better.. So happy you liked the style! (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
