Lovecraft’s Untold Stories is an action rogue-lite with RPG elements. You explore randomly generated levels based on the H.P. Lovecraft stories, fighting cultists and all kinds of monsters from the Mythos, improving your weapons and gear, solving puzzles and challenges, and looking for clues and knowledge to defeat the Great Old Ones and the Outer Gods. LIVE H.P. LOVECRAFT’S STORIES Lovecraft’s Untold Stories is based on H.P. Lovecraft’s stories. You will experience first-hand the cosmic horror created by the genius of Providence. Every character will go through an investigation that will take them through different locations, from the creepy old Victorian mansion to the abandoned hospital where forbidden experiments take place or the jungle where lost tribes celebrate forgotten rituals, just to name a few. Levels are randomly generated: it will be a different experience every time you play. Also, they vary depending on the character you’re playing with. Look for items and clues to unlock secrets and new stories. 5 CHARACTERS, 5 WAYS OF FIGHTING THE MYTHOS You can play as 5 different characters, each with a different playstyle and storyline. A private detective, a witch, a thief, a professor, and even a ghoul—each with different stats, weapons, and combat moves, creating five entirely different gameplay experiences. The Detective offers a balanced playstyle, with average Health and Stamina. The Professor is a specialist in ranged combat, with less Health and a special shield granted by his weapon, the Tillinghast. The Witch does a lot of damage, has teleport abilities and elemental shields of fire and ice, but also a very low Health. The Thief is a specialist in melée combat that takes advantage of its stealth to maximize her damage. The ghoul does a lot of melée damage, has a high Health and regenerates itself, but can’t use medkits at all. KEY FEATURES * Fight hundreds of different monsters from the Cthulhu Mythos in this intense action roguelite Explore Lovecraft’s stories: every character has a storyline that crosses randomly generated levels set in different locations from Lovecraft’s stories, such as the hospital, the jungle, or the port city just to name a few * Face the Great Old Ones: Great Cthulhu, Nyarlathotep, Dagon, Shub-Niggurath, and Azathoth await you in special levels * Investigate thoroughly: explore every corner to find secret levels and knowledge about the Great Old Ones * Learn about the Mythos to fight them: to have a chance at fighting the Great Old Ones you need to acquire knowledge about them or their mere presence will drive you insane * Madness awaits: in the course of your adventures you will have to make some decisions, and taking the wrong ones will shake your sanity. If it gets too low, you will start losing your mind – and if you go mad you will take your own life to escape the horror * Pick your hero: Choose between 5 different characters, the detective, the thief, the professor, the witch, and the ghoul * Different playstyles: every investigator has a different combat style and skills, but levels also vary depending on who you’re playing them with – so the gameplay experience is totally different * Collect and improve weapons, items, and artefacts. Each character has a set of weapons and items, and there are hundreds of other items you can find and use! * Look for clues and special items to unlock secrets and new stories

Wow this looks so cool, the game seems the same as the pc version, which got 89% positive of history rating on Steam, really curious how well the control is on iPhone.

Wait, I think there are hotkeys on the pc version, is there no hotkeys on ios?

updates: never mind I just got the game, the belt can only put consumable items.

About the inventory pausing, the developer answer it on Steam:
...it is a feature. It is not a good idea to start searching inside of your backpack, when you have 5 crazy cultists attacking you. Try to check your inventory only when you know that you are in a safe place.

ok, 2 questions before i jump on this if anyone knows
    1) does it continue if you get interrupted from a phone call or lock screen?
    2) are there permanent upgrades to make when you lose/ finish a stage?

oh and if anyone knows how is the battery drain on 6s+ (low, average or omg 1%per minute)?

So I just got some news from the developer:
    1. It is the latest version
    2. Maybe it would support the MFI controller later, the developer need to test the full compatibility with MFI controller first.

According to the developer's reply, "There was an error with the currency exchange that Apple applies on different countries. The correct price for the iOS version is 9.99$ and it will stay like this. We reacted as fast as we could."

Wow! Beautiful pixel art and creepy atmosphere. Reminds me of a lovecraftian Binding Of Isaac mixed with a bit of Dungeons Of Dredmour.

Well worth the investment if your into action oriented roguelikes that have a strong dose of investigative elements mixed in to the gameplay. If your looking for a super arcady roguelike then this will disappoint you (from my experience up to the first boss).

If your looking for an action roguelike / rpg with great atmosphere, conflict at times, a bunch of item interaction with more story than most “dungeon crawlers” then buy it especially if you like Lovecraft mythos.

Just want to reiterate this has been my early game experience with the detective character...I don’t know anything about mid to late game.

I haven't figured out how the save system works. I played for almost 30' went to main menu and then lost everything. Am i missing something? What's the point of playing for so long if you can not save it?

You need beat at least a chapter to save the game progress, I beat the chapter 1 with detective then I died through an event later, then I find I can continue the game from the start of chapter 2.

Update: when you beat a chapter, you would teleport to a strange place, there is a box called "the scanning device", here is the developer's update note on steam:

The Scanning Device: We heard you gals & guys! We read the posts, and we can finally introduce the long-time expected Checkpoints! Now you will find in many locations of the game a special device that connects with the storage of the Strange Place. You can put objects that you don´t need, or that you want to keep, and the device also "saves" the character in that exact moment. If you die afterward, you will start from the Scanning Device, and not from the very beginning of the level!

Be careful, though, because you can do this just once on each location, so choose the correct moment to do it.

Yeah this one needs auto save, we should be able to just pick up from where we left off. It’s pretty standard for this sort of game.
And the gameplay not pausing when you open your inventory is driving me nuts, there are so many things you pick up that you can use against enemies and getting killed while searching through your inventory is lame

It’s nice they dropped the, price to 9.99 after I already paid 14.99 lol
It gets really redundant having to collect everything all over again (namely the keys to open the boss door) only to get killed within seconds of entering. I really suck at this game lol but I love it. I just wish icould at least save somewhere outside the boss room?

    Hi Everyone.

Devs here. Glad that our game have found some interes in mobile game world.

Will be happy for answering at all your questions.

    >It’s nice they dropped the, price to 9.99 after I already paid 14.99 lol
So sorry for that - our mistake with prices - app store has differ price system, not comfortable for us after Steam.
Hope its not corrupt your emotions from gameplay and you will have your fun.

Such a save system is traditional for this game genre - this is an extra challenge for the player to survive the level. Some may called it old fashioned, but we believe that it gives the game more tension and value from the success walkthrough.

But we are realise that due to the size of our levels and the puzzles on them, the player must be able to save his progress. Player save his progress betwin levels (in the Stange place) and with special check point at the labirynth - scaning machine (that give remote access to the starange place and its resourses). And in the first Detective level (Mansion) it saves befor the boss (in the room with stone door).

And ofcourse, we are closely watching how the game will be played on mobile devices and if such a saving system is not accepted by the players, we will think how to improve the game experience and fix this problem.

thank you devs for the replies. I will hold off on this because the save system doesn’t work for mobile in my experience, especially when a level is more than 5-10 mins. When you pick it up you need to play to progress until the next quick session and before you get a call or something comes up. This is the difference between mobile and a 2hour dedicated play session on consoles-pc.
Also, the app pictures look way more pixelated than the gameplay videos on youtube.
