The fact that it's a F2P is accepted but at least it seems that there is no VIP membership is already nice (you still have IAP for special currency of course). But also as @NyxTowa mentioned, it is focused on survival and solo so you can play at your pace. My guess is that the multiplayer comes in play because you have varied specialities (12 in total: Gathering, Survival, Weapon/Tool, Melee, Cooking, Processing, Defense, Butchering, Ranged, Tailoring, Construction, Farming) and I am not sure that you can level up everything by yourself. When you gather ressources, you gain XP that allows you to level up (and the level up is pretty generous at the beginning). This gives you some Skill XP that you can use to improve you speciality (Craft/Gather better things, improve chance of getting rarer items, etc.). But there is also a possibility to reset you Skill XP (15 times/points? per day). So all in all, it does not look and feel like a P2W and is more oriented toward interaction and exchange. When you choosing character, it’s mainly the skill set you are choosing and the style of clothes... but I’m sure you can change your clothes in game by crafting, trading etc.. Had 2 server maintenance in the 30 mins I tried it though, so not played it long.
