A great plague sweeps through the capital. When doctors flee the city in fear, a hero rises. His name is Simon Forman, “Doctor” of Astrology and Physick. Not only does he have the power to cure the sick, he can find their lost pets or even predict their futures, by reading the movements of the stars! But when the plague ends, Forman’s problems begin. The real doctors return to London and they will stop at nothing to expose Forman as a fraud and bring him down. But Doctor Forman is determined to prove them wrong! Astrologaster is based on a true - and truly ridiculous - story. Read The Stars - Guide Forman in casting and interpreting real astrological charts. Solve Hilarious Problems - Consult on problems ranging from Elizabethan terror plots and foul diseases, to romantic entanglements and stolen pies! Change Lives - Win your patients’ favor or ruin their lives. Advise 14 characters who return 5-7 times. Patients have their own ongoing stories which often overlap with each other. Win A Medical License - Convince patients to write letters of recommendations. Collect enough letters to exchange them for a medical license. Fully Voiced Character Dialogue - Sitcom-style comedy brought to life by a cast of over a dozen actors. Sing Along - Enjoy Renaissance-era music and sing along to each character’s theme song. Casebooks Come Alive - Simon Forman’s cases are presented as a beautiful pop-up book. Turn pages to delve deeper into your patients’ stories. But is this just making fun (rightly, I might add) of astrology, or is it a real game? orangecan Well-Known Member Aug 9, 2011 2,000 150 63 #3 orangecan, May 2, 2019 I just bought it then realised that I’d bough Tengami back when it came out, so I’ve just redownloaded that and started playing that first instead...... sorry but you might have to wait for a report on this because I’m absolutely loving tengami so far. The voice acting is brilliant, the writing, art and whole general presentation are good. The actual gameplay I'm slightly less sure on so far - basically you're just giving people advice, which is fine, except that there seem to be clear cut right and wrong answers much of the time and you're sort of told whether the advice you gave was right or wrong as soon as you give it. I think I'd prefer not to know, or better yet for it not to be that clear cut in the first place (maybe it's not clear cut now, but it's often presented like it is). On top of that, the actual advice you're going to end up giving them is not always entirely clear from the options, and while sometimes it seems possible to work out what the right advice is, other times feel like pure guesswork, which can be frustrating. I might be wrong about some of this, and on the strength of the writing and acting I'm still enjoying it a lot, but just a bit less than I might if this system was tweaked a bit - or, if I am misunderstanding aspects of it, that it was better explained. Edit: I thought I should clarify that I don't want people to think I'm down on the game as such. I've been gaming for 30 years across all formats and I'm hard to please. Most games on iOS don't hold my attention and this looks like it could potentially be head and shoulders above the majority. orangecan Well-Known Member Aug 9, 2011 2,000 150 63 #5 orangecan, May 3, 2019 I came in to post almost exactly that, completely agree with everything you’ve said. pheriannath Well-Known Member Jun 9, 2012 99 2 8 #6 pheriannath, May 7, 2019 I’ve just played about an hour of it, and I must agree as well. Played it for one hour ish and found it repetitive and boring. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
