The epic fantasy saga is finally available on mobile devices, offering a whole new angle to the franchise. Leaving the story of its PC ancestors untouched and comes indeed 100%-story free, the Premium Game will offer turn-based strategy and tactics instead of real-time. CRAFT YOUR FANTASY EMPIRE Creating an own Kingdom turn by turn is the main goal in the 13-Mission long adventure mode or the free game, where you are facing your AI-opponents on randomly generated maps. Choose between the Dark Elves, the Orcs or Humans as playable races and ally or fight six neutral factions. Send your troops to conquer cities, to claim mines or farms and to search for treasure. EXPLORE NEW LANDS Your race’s hero will lead your army on their search for glory, treasures and valuable resources to exploit. Because your ever-expanding empire needs them to prosper. When you find new cities, you can muster new unique unitsand command them in any battle that lies ahead. BATTLE YOUR ENEMIES While your heroes explore the realms, you will meet your opponents on the battlefield and will exterminate them in simultaneous turn-based combats. Played out on hexagons, you’ll send Archers, Catapults, Knights or Dark Elf Necromancers against beasts & enemies like Spiders, Shadow Nightmares or Barbarian Berserkers. While you plan your actions, so does your enemy. When you both execute your plans, you’ll see who the better strategist is. EVOLVE YOUR SOLDIERS SpellForce: Heroes & Magic is also an Role Playing Game. Your hero and your soldiers both gain experience and they both can find magical items like swords, armor or other equipment. And no, we don’t think it’s a 4X game – do you? ● Lead your Heroes: Carry the battle to your opponents and defeat them. ● A world of magic: Heroes and units can cast Lightning Strikes or Fear Spells, can stun foes or heal companions. ● Simultaneously turn-based combat: Plan your armies’ actions while your enemy does and execute them at the same time. ● Items, Level ups, Skill-Trees: Individualize your army with fully fledged RPG mechanics. ● 3 Playable Races: Orcs, Humans, Dark Elves & their iconic heroes await your commands. ● 6 Neutral Races to ally with or fight against: Gargoyles, Shadows, Elves, Dwarves, Barbarians and Trolls are either loyal companions or fearsome enemies on the battlefield. ● Over 30 different units to muster and to lead into combat. I’ve read comparisons to HoMM and they’re not entirely wrong. There’s parts of quite a few strategy games added into the mix here. Apparently SpellForce is popular on pc and there’s quite a few games in the series set in the SpellForce universe. I think I read that this is the first time they’ve created a turn based SF title. Most importantly to me was that it was fun to play, so I’ve put it near the top of the queue of games I’ll get to next after Zombicide. Really looking forward to spending time playing this one properly. skoptic likes this. skoptic Well-Known Member Apr 3, 2015 634 82 28 #3 skoptic, Apr 28, 2019 Thanks - I was hovering on but button yesterday and was up for getting a bit of feedback Nullzone ð® Spam Police ð Jul 12, 2013 3,669 79 48 Male #4 Nullzone, Apr 28, 2019 Right down my alley, bought No promises, as things are still very busy at Castle Nullzone; but I'll try to be back sometime soon with some impressions. psj3809 Moderator Jan 13, 2011 12,966 718 113 England #5 psj3809, Apr 28, 2019 Great stuff. Ijipop Well-Known Member Jul 25, 2012 557 268 63 #10 Ijipop, Apr 29, 2019 Well in the description it says you can play custom games against the AI. I assume you have to finish story mode first. Two shot win, pretty much every late game battle. Nullzone ð® Spam Police ð Jul 12, 2013 3,669 79 48 Male #12 Nullzone, May 1, 2019 Got a few minutes to leave some impressions: First of all, overall a good game that satisfies my turnbased itch. Definitely recommended. Some observations: My first win unlocked a Shadow Assassin unit that I can build now in every game. Like Quoad says, especially magic is quite overpowered. Same applies to ranged units. This makes Darkelves the best race at first impression: ranged magic What worked well for me so far: When I start a game, immediately hire as a many ranged units as I can afford. Even the Orc Archers - who are the worst in terms of damage - pack a good wallop. Melee units really got the short end of the stick here: If you can't shoot them to pieces before they reach you, you are doing it wrong(TM) Still not sure what the best build order is. Especially in the early short games it doesn't make much of a difference anyway, as your Hero army is doing all the heavy lifting; and you won't add that many reinforcements or equipment upgrades from a Forge. When your Hero levels up, get him +1 movement, then a damage spell, then more movement. With a bunch of ranged units, you won't need much else. Especially once they level up and/or get better equipment. PAY ATTENTION when the game tells you another faction is out to get you. I actually lost my second my game because I figured I'd make it back to their border before they could attack me. I was wrong, and the enemy sacked my capital. Had I built just a few garrison units, I would have won the fight and the game. Oh yes, if you lose your capital, it's game over. Of course, I have stuff to complain about So far (only played three games) I only have one Hero. Really would like to have two, to speed things up a bit. You cannot sell/drop unused equipment, which makes things a bit messy. E.g. why would I keep a "Rusted Sword" that only does 3 damage and cannot be upgraded? Let me get rid of it. Really needs a manual. E.g. I still haven't figured out how food works exactly. As in "how much food do you need to produce to get a new worker". Some other stuff also isn't immediately obvious, for example: Resources are per provinces, not one global pool. Units without a Hero cannot cross Province borders. With that out of the way, back to playing Nullzone ð® Spam Police ð Jul 12, 2013 3,669 79 48 Male #13 Nullzone, May 1, 2019 Another observation: Your Hero cannot die in combat. When he goes down to 0HP, he is out of the fight and will not get any experience. But after the fight he is back again (with very low health if I remember right). Your regular units however are gone for good when they are downed in a battle. Yes, the game has a few issues (see my impression post a bit upthread). However, aside from 2 game freeze-ups during combats (which I could avoid once I figured out what caused them) I did not encounter any of the bugs mentioned. More importantly, I do enjoy the slower pace at my advanced age About combat: As observed already, early on magic/ranged is hugely overpowered. However, with my Darkelves I ran into a bunch of flying monsters (Gargoyles, I think). And guess what? Highly magic resistant, really ruined my day.
